SAG-AFTRA members ratified the union’s 2023 Television Animation and Basic Cable Animation Agreements by 95.52% to 4.48%, according to the union. The agreements set employment terms through June 30, 2026, including wage minimums, residuals, working conditions and studio and streamer obligations.
What did members approve?
The vote covered two agreements: the Television Animation Agreement and the Basic Cable Animation Agreement. SAG-AFTRA says they established terms of employment for members working under those contracts through June 30, 2026. The union’s TV Animation Agreements page describes the agreements as addressing minimum wages, residuals, working conditions, and obligations for studios and streamers.
The union reported 95.52% of votes in favor and 4.48% opposed. It did not publish the ballot count or turnout on that page, so the percentages show the result among votes cast—not how many eligible members participated.
What were the reported contract gains?
Minimum wage increases
A contemporaneous Gizmodo report published March 23, 2024 described a 7% minimum-wage increase retroactive to July 1, 2023, followed by increases of 4% in the second year and 3.5% in the third. These are reported schedule terms; their application to a particular performer, production or category depends on the agreement’s detailed provisions.

- Sebastian C. Adams was a 19th-century educator and minister who spent years drawing this chart by hand before publishing it in 1871. He wanted ordinary families to see how the Bible and world history fit together, not as two separate stories, but as one. This edition carries that same purpose: 21 full-size panels, a hardcover case that keeps them together, and a chart you can open with your children the way parents did more than a century ago.
- There is something almost overwhelming about seeing six thousand years laid out side by side. While one kingdom rises, another is already fading. While prophets speak in one land, armies are marching in another. This synchronological chart places sacred and secular history in parallel columns, using the same Ussher chronology that generations of North American families learned in Sunday school. Parents will recognize it. Their children will see it for the first time.
- Fold it open like a book, or stretch it across the floor and watch it run twenty-three feet from wall to wall. Twenty-one panels unfold into one continuous stream of time, from Creation to the late 19th century. This is the kind of thing you gather the family around on a Sunday afternoon, or leave on a classroom wall for a semester. Kids who see the whole sweep of history stretched out before them start asking questions you never expected.
- This edition preserves the 19th-century voice of the original chart—its handwritten commentary, its period artwork, and the way it reads like a document from another time. It is the same chart that hung in libraries and classrooms in the 1870s, inviting readers to trace the rise and fall of nations, the lives of prophets and kings, and the quiet turning points that shaped the world. You are not just looking at history. You are reading it the way a 19th-century student would have.
- Some resources are meant to be studied. This one is meant to be lived with. Homeschool families use it as a spine for world history. Bible study groups unfold it on a long table. Parents tell us their kids keep it open on the floor, tracing the line from Adam to Abraham to David to Christ. It also makes a gift that says something: here is the whole story, from the beginning, in your hands.
Artificial intelligence and synthetic voices
The same report described several distinct protections: consent when a generative AI system is prompted with a specific performer’s name; notice to and negotiation with SAG-AFTRA when a synthetic voice is used instead of a voice actor; and residual eligibility when a performer’s voice is digitally altered into a foreign language and the performance is used. These are not one blanket rule for every AI-related use. The contract text governs definitions, conditions and exceptions.
Residuals and holidays
Gizmodo also reported changes to high-budget subscription-video-on-demand residuals and recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth as contractual holidays. The union’s retrospective likewise highlights wage gains and AI protections, but the sources do not establish a total dollar value for the animation agreements.

Is this the 2026 TV animation contract?
No. The 95.52% ratification result is for the 2023 agreements. The separate 2026 contract cycle was still awaiting a member vote in the latest official update available on October 8, 2026. On October 5, SAG-AFTRA said its executive committee had unanimously approved proposed 2026 Television Animation Agreements and referred them to members, recommending a yes vote. The union said referendum postcards would mail October 8; the update did not announce a member-vote result.
In that October 5 announcement, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said the proposal “empowers the animation voiceover community with many of the same wins from our live action agreement and then some.” That quote refers to the proposed 2026 agreement, not the 2023 ratification. The union’s 2026 Television Animation Agreements page is the official hub for that cycle.
