Rylee Arnold made her relationship with football player Walker Lyons public on Instagram in October 2024, captioning photos of them together, “Is this a hard launch?? 🤭❤️🔥.” A September 2026 profile later described Lyons as Arnold’s boyfriend and said they were managing a long-distance relationship. The school context has changed: Lyons transferred from USC to BYU in January 2026, according to that profile.
How Rylee Arnold announced the relationship
Arnold’s Instagram post—not a joint press release—was the public announcement. She shared a carousel of photos with Lyons in late October 2024 and wrote, “Is this a hard launch?? 🤭❤️🔥.” Good Morning America reported that the post came around the time she attended a USC football game against Rutgers. Good Morning America’s October 30, 2024 report captured both the caption and the announcement-era setting.

Arnold also spoke warmly about Lyons to GMA, saying, “Walker is the best. I am so happy.” She added, “He constantly makes me feel so special and it’s so fun to share this journey that I’m about to head on.” Those comments were published on October 30, 2024, as she prepared for her DWTS journey.
What was reported about them later
A September 18, 2026 profile by TV Insider/Swooon still described Lyons as Arnold’s boyfriend. It said they were navigating a long-distance relationship, with Arnold in Los Angeles for DWTS and Lyons at school in Utah. In the profile’s interview, Arnold said, “We just FaceTime every single night, we keep each other updated.” Read the TV Insider/Swooon profile.

That September 2026 article is the latest located status report here; it is not a new announcement made in October 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the USC wording needs a date
Calling Lyons a USC player fits the October 2024 announcement context, but it is no longer the latest school information. TV Insider/Swooon reported that he played at USC in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, transferred to BYU in January 2026, and was a BYU tight end by the time of its September 2026 profile. USC’s official October 22, 2024 game notes list him as a tight end and note that he had recently returned from serving a mission in Norway; those notes document his past USC status, not a current roster position.

For the public timeline, USC Annenberg Media’s November 20, 2024 coverage described the relationship as Instagram-official in late October and covered the couple’s appearances and mutual support. That article is historical context rather than an update on their present status.
