Ryan Seacrest praised Pat Sajak the day after Sajak’s final episode as host of Wheel of Fortune aired on June 7, 2024. Seacrest called the transition “the end of an era,” recognizing Sajak’s long run and his on-screen partnership with Vanna White.
What Ryan Seacrest said about Pat Sajak
In a tribute reproduced by Good Morning America, Seacrest praised Sajak’s “dedication, charm, and wit,” saying they had made the show a beloved part of American television for decades. He also celebrated Sajak’s partnership with White and wrote: “You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era.”
Seacrest’s post included a photo and video of himself with Sajak and White on the familiar game-show set, according to The Associated Press.

Why Seacrest called it “the end of an era”
The phrase was Seacrest’s description of Sajak’s departure after a decades-long run, not a separate announcement about the show ending. Sajak announced in June 2023 that he would retire from hosting at the end of season 41; Seacrest was named as his successor later that month, according to Good Morning America.
