Ryan Reynolds responded to Neil Patrick Harris voicing Deadpool in Marvel’s Deadpool VR with a mock-outraged comedy video—not a real casting dispute. The skit jokes that Harris has “stolen” Reynolds’s signature role, while poking fun at Harris’s Doogie Howser, M.D. persona.
What did Ryan Reynolds say about Neil Patrick Harris voicing Deadpool?
In a deliberately exaggerated response to the game announcement, Reynolds pretended to be upset that Harris was voicing Deadpool. He joked: “People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all.” The Independent also quoted Reynolds calling Harris “an amazing actor with the nurturing voice of an angel” before continuing the mock complaint. The Independent’s June 9, 2025 account describes the remarks as part of a comic skit.
How does the video parody Doogie Howser?
The joke draws on Harris’s breakout role as the young doctor in Doogie Howser, M.D. Reynolds appears in a lab coat and glasses, adopting the show’s familiar image for the mock diary-style response. Robyn Lively interrupts him, calling him “vindictive and stupid,” according to The Independent. Lively also appeared in Doogie Howser and is Blake Lively’s half-sister.
GamesRadar+ identifies the clip as “Ryan Over-Reacts to Marvel’s Deadpool VR” and describes it as 85 seconds long; its account also reproduces the “biggest buttholes of all” line. GamesRadar+’s report links to the video.
