Rory McCann, known for playing Sandor “The Hound” Clegane in Game of Thrones, will play Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka Season 2. McCann takes over the role from Ray Stevenson, who originated the character in Season 1.
Who is playing Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka Season 2?
Lucasfilm announced McCann’s casting at Star Wars Celebration Japan on April 20, 2025. The StarWars.com announcement included behind-the-scenes images of McCann in Baylan’s costume.
McCann is widely recognized for his portrayal of Sandor “The Hound” Clegane in HBO’s Game of Thrones. In Ahsoka, he takes over the role of Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi whose story began in the first season.
Why was Baylan Skoll recast?
Ray Stevenson played Baylan in Season 1. After Stevenson died, showrunner Dave Filoni said the team discussed how to proceed with Stevenson’s family before deciding to recast. Filoni explained that Baylan remains important to the story and to its relationship with Ahsoka.
