What Roman Reigns said about his injury
In an interview with Men’s Journal fitness director Ebenezer Samuel, Reigns discussed elbow soreness and said his shoulders felt good. Cageside Seats reported his remarks on October 1, 2026.
“this elbow is banged up, but the shoulders are feeling good.”
Reigns placed the problem after Survivor Series in November 2025. He said: “My elbows were really beat up in December coming out of Survivor Series in November. By the time I got to [Royal] Rumble in January, we were just barely getting them back to normal.”

He also described his progress: “Finally once we got that all figured out and rehabbed right, started feeling good, started training hard and now I’m really starting to put it back together.” These are his descriptions of recovery and training, not a published diagnosis or medical clearance. Cageside Seats’ October 1 report recounts the interview.
When the elbow issue occurred
- November 2025: Reigns referred to Survivor Series as the event he was coming out of when the elbows were affected.
- December 2025: He said his elbows were “really beat up.”
- January 31, 2026: By the Royal Rumble, he said they were only just getting back to normal.
- October 1, 2026: Cageside Seats published the interview-based account.
The account does not say Reigns injured his elbows during the Royal Rumble. His description places the problem earlier, after Survivor Series.

Did he compete at the 2026 Royal Rumble?
Yes. WWE’s official event record says Reigns entered the January 31, 2026 match at No. 26, lasted 15:48 and won. That establishes that he competed; it does not establish formal medical clearance or reveal the details of his treatment. WWE’s Royal Rumble event page records the result and match details.

The available reports do not establish Reigns’s current diagnosis or formal clearance as of October 8, 2026. WWE’s profile page lists content featuring him dated October 5, which indicates recent WWE activity but does not confirm his medical condition. WWE’s Roman Reigns profile is the source for that recent content.

WWE announced on February 2, 2026 that Reigns was set to return to Raw after winning the Rumble. That announcement establishes an expected appearance, not a medical assessment. WWE’s announcement covers the scheduled return.
