Roman Reigns defeated reigning World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, taking the title after a months-long feud WWE described as a series of insults and brawls. “Revenge tour” is a fitting editorial description of the road to the match, but WWE’s published preview did not identify it as the official name of Reigns’ storyline.
How the Reigns–Punk feud reached WrestleMania
WWE’s preview framed the match as the culmination of months of verbal and physical conflict between champion CM Punk and challenger Roman Reigns. It described their buildup as “months of shocking insults and wild brawls,” but did not attribute that wording to a named person or confirm “revenge tour” as an official storyline label. WWE’s event preview set the expectation for a hard-fought title bout.
Reigns wins the World Heavyweight Championship
At WrestleMania 42, Reigns beat Punk to claim the World Heavyweight Championship. WWE’s official results record Reigns as the winner; the match ended Punk’s run as champion and put the title on Reigns.
WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas
The event took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas across April 18 and 19, 2026. WWE reported more than 106,000 attendees across the two dates. That figure is WWE’s own announcement; the source available here does not provide an independent audit. WWE also said the event achieved record or near-record commercial performance across categories including the gate, sponsorship, merchandise, WWE World, On Location VIP experiences and digital business. WWE’s announcement about the Las Vegas event also discussed official On Location Priority Passes, but does not establish current availability or terms for future events.
