The Home Screen feature offered 10-question, multiple-choice quizzes about movies, television and current entertainment. Roku later changed the experience to Daily Trivia, with 10 new questions each day and an archive called Trivia Vault. Older articles that describe a Tuesday-updated weekly quiz are reporting the original version, not the current Roku description.
What Roku launched in 2024
The original Weekly Trivia was a built-in Roku feature rather than a separate trivia device. Roku placed it in the Home Screen menu, and launch coverage also reported access through Roku Search. It was announced for Roku devices in the United States, including Roku players, Streaming Sticks and Roku TVs running Roku OS. Engadget’s launch report and 9to5Google’s coverage describe the initial rollout.
The format
- Questions were multiple-choice and focused on entertainment rather than general knowledge.
- Topics included movies, television, premieres, holidays, the 2024 Summer Olympics and other major cultural moments.
- A new question pool arrived each Tuesday.
- Each play session contained 10 questions.
The “10 questions per week” error
Some early reports made it sound as though the entire weekly game contained only 10 questions. Roku subsequently clarified to Engadget that the pool contained more than 100 questions per week. A player received 10 questions in a session and could replay during the same week for another selection from that larger pool. The more-than-100 figure was a launch-era specification attributed to a Roku spokesperson, not a current Daily Trivia guarantee.
Competition
Launch-era testing reported no formal leaderboard. Friends and family could compare scores or share results, but Weekly Trivia did not provide a verified ranking system at launch. That does not establish that every later interface is identical.

- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
What changed: Weekly Trivia became Daily Trivia
Roku’s April 23, 2025 announcement and its support documentation use the name Daily Trivia. The revised experience supplies 10 new entertainment questions every day, links players to related movies and shows after completion, and adds Trivia Vault, a hub for playing hundreds of previous questions. See Roku’s Daily Trivia announcement and Roku OS feature documentation.
This change matters when you follow an older guide: “new questions every Tuesday” describes the 2024 product, while “10 new questions daily” describes Roku’s later product description. Roku’s current documentation does not present Weekly Trivia as a separate, unchanged service on every device.
Rank #2

- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
How to find the quiz on a Roku device
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Open the left-side Home Screen menu and look for Daily Trivia or a similarly named interactive Roku feature.
- If it is not visible, use Roku Search and search for “Daily Trivia” or “Trivia.”
- Make sure the device is connected to the internet and check Settings > System > Software update > Check now.
Menu placement is not permanent. The location shown in 2024 launch coverage—sometimes described as near or above Streaming Store—can differ by Roku OS version, device type, account, geography and staged interface rollout. Roku’s support page documents newer Home Screen changes, so historical screenshots should be treated as dated instructions.
If you still cannot see it
- The cited Roku announcements specify availability in the United States; availability elsewhere is not established here.
- A Roku TV and a Roku streaming player may receive interface changes at different times.
- The feature may be temporarily unavailable during a rollout or labeling change. Third-party reporting documented a period when the experience disappeared for some users before returning as Daily Trivia: Cord Cutters News.
- Trivia Vault is an archive of older questions, not a promise of unlimited brand-new questions on every replay.
What the quiz is—and is not
| Question | Best-supported answer |
|---|---|
| Is it a general-knowledge quiz? | No. Roku positioned it around entertainment, movies, television and cultural events. |
| Is it a separately downloaded game? | It is described as a Roku platform feature accessed through the Home Screen or Search. |
| Are linked movies and shows free? | Not necessarily. A quiz link does not establish that a title is free; viewing may require a subscription, rental, purchase or an ad-supported option. |
| Does it provide ranked multiplayer competition? | No leaderboard was reported for the launch version. Current behavior should be checked on the installed interface. |
| Do you need new hardware? | Existing compatible Roku owners may already have access. Buying a Roku device solely for trivia is not justified by the available product information. |
Roklue is a separate 2026 experiment
Roku’s later interactive project, Roklue, is not simply a renamed Weekly Trivia. Announced March 5, 2026, its first edition, Roklue: Awards Season, was scheduled for March 7, 2026. Instead of presenting a straightforward question set, Roklue uses clues about movies and television shows to help viewers discover titles available to watch on Roku. Roku described plans to rotate themed experiences around current cultural moments and established favorites. The announcement is available through this distributed Roku press release.

Roklue therefore shows Roku expanding interactive discovery, but it is not evidence that Daily Trivia still refreshes weekly or that it replaced Daily Trivia on every device.
Who will get the most from Roku Trivia?
- Families and friends: A short, television-based quiz works well for informal group play.
- Casual viewers: Entertainment questions can lead directly to related titles without opening a separate app.
- Trivia specialists: Users seeking broad categories, persistent statistics, matchmaking or serious leaderboards may prefer a dedicated mobile or web trivia service.
The feature is best understood as a low-friction discovery extra for Roku owners, not a full competitive trivia platform.
