What happened during the 2024 announcement?
Reid announced Windsor’s death on Good Morning Britain on 20 February 2024. ITV described her as emotional as she paid tribute. The Guardian reported that Reid said: “I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to read this.” That account attributes the words to Reid; it does not establish that the cause of Windsor’s death or any inquest finding was known during the broadcast.
Windsor was a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing. Reid had previously danced with him in a special for the programme. ITV News reported his death aged 44 on 20 February 2024; The Guardian also covered Reid’s on-air reaction that day.
What did Windsor’s family ask for?
In a statement reported by ITV on 22 February 2024, Windsor’s family asked for media speculation about his death to stop and requested privacy as they grieved. The family’s reported words included: “We would ask that the constant media speculation stop.” ITV News published the family’s request. Their appeal is a reason to avoid repeating unverified accounts of his private circumstances.

What did the inquest conclude in 2026?
In February 2026, an inquest jury concluded that Windsor took his own life. The Guardian reported that the jury found he was vulnerable to rejection, emotionally and professionally, among contributing factors. This was a later inquest conclusion, not information established by the 2024 announcement. The Guardian reported the jury’s conclusion on 12 February 2026; ITV News Anglia also reported the inquest outcome that day.
