Robert Irwin and Rorie Buckey announced in February 2024 that they had decided to go their separate ways. Their joint statement expressed gratitude and goodwill, but did not give a reason for the breakup.
What Robert Irwin and Rorie Buckey said about their split
The couple shared a joint statement on social media in February 2024. As quoted in Us Weekly’s report, they said: “We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future.”
They also said they would not comment further and asked for privacy: “We won’t be commenting further on this, and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time.” The statement was jointly attributed to Irwin and Buckey; it did not identify an individual speaker.
How long were they together?
Reports first linked the pair publicly in November 2022, and they appeared together publicly in 2023. The breakup announcement followed in February 2024. Coverage describes the relationship variously as a little over a year or nearly two years, so a more exact duration is not established. Being first linked, appearing as a couple, and announcing a breakup are distinct milestones.
