For Ankahi Kahaniya, she played Manjari, a young woman in an 1980s-set story, and learned needlework for the part. Her comments offer a snapshot of how she approached that role and the choices she described making after Sairat—not a current account of her career.
What did Rinku Rajguru say about Ankahi Kahaniya?
Speaking with Nandini Ramnath of Scroll in an interview published September 19, 2021, Rajguru said she felt a connection to Manjari because she is Marathi, and because the role differed from her previous work. “I felt a connect since I am a Marathi girl too, and the role is different from what I have done in the past,” she said.
Manjari is paired with Nandu, played by Delzad Hiwale, in the segment directed by Abhishek Chaubey. Netflix identifies the segment’s source as “Madhyantara,” a Kannada story by Jayant Kaikini. Those are official film credits; Rajguru’s reflections on the character come from the Scroll interview.
How did she prepare to play Manjari?
Rajguru said Chaubey gave her a concise behavioral direction: “All Abhishek sir told me was, behave like a young woman in the 1980s.” He also had her learn needlework because Manjari is good at embroidery: “He also made me learn needlework, since Manjari is good with embroidery.”

She described her broader process as listening rather than extensively discussing a character. “I don’t discuss my character too much, but I listen a lot since my job is to execute the director’s vision,” she told Ramnath. She also named instinct, observation and internalisation as parts of how she works. In her account, the director’s guidance and the practical task of learning a skill helped her find the character without over-explaining it.
What did she say about fame and work after Sairat?
Rajguru said that after Sairat, she was repeatedly offered roles similar to Archie. She did not want to repeat the same part: “I didn’t want to do the same role over and over again. I want to do something different each time.” She said she was willing to wait for a role that felt distinct.

She described judging a part by asking herself whether she could do it and whether she could see herself as the character. After considering that privately, she said, she consulted her parents. Her stated ambition was not limited to one language: “All I want is to be in good films, work with good people and portray all kinds of different characters. The language doesn’t matter.”
Ramnath’s 2021 interview also reported that Rajguru preferred films to web series because series involve lengthy shoots, while noting that she could not refuse every such opportunity. These are her views as reported at that time, not a statement of her current preferences. The interview further described her as the first in her family to enter show business, with supportive parents and a father who oversaw professional moves. It said she was living with her family in Akluj and studying for an arts degree through distance education; those details belong to the 2021 account and should not be read as current biography.
