Why the tour was a tribute to Lisa Marie Presley
The events centered on From Here to the Great Unknown, the memoir Riley Keough completed with material her mother had recorded. The official book site says Lisa Marie Presley had been recording stories for the memoir and asked Keough to help finish it. After her mother’s death, Keough listened to the recordings and shaped them alongside her own memories and voice. The official book site describes a book spanning Presley’s childhood at Graceland, her relationships with Elvis and Priscilla Presley, marriage, motherhood, addiction and grief.

In an Associated Press interview about finishing the book, Keough said, “It just felt like a kind of a duty that I had to complete for her.” She also described her understanding of her mother’s aim: “Her goal was to tell her story so that people could relate and feel less alone in the world, which is why I think we tell stories.” The Associated Press interview discusses Keough’s role and the memoir’s purpose.
A September 17, 2024 CBS press release described the book as completed by Keough after Presley recorded hours of stories. It also quoted Presley reflecting on her father: “I felt my father could change the weather. He was a god to me. A chosen human being.” The release announced a separate Oprah Winfrey special from Graceland for October 8, 2024, featuring family images and selections from Presley’s recordings. CBS’s press release gives those details.

The tour was not the only event around the book, but a later virtual conversation should not be confused with its October itinerary. Live Talks Los Angeles records a conversation between Keough and novelist Taylor Jenkins Reid, taped with an audience on November 18, 2024, with virtual viewing on November 25, 2024. The Live Talks Los Angeles event page documents that separate appearance.
The Associated Press reported on October 8, 2024, that Oprah Winfrey had selected the memoir for her book club and that Keough and Julia Roberts narrated its audiobook. The AP report on the selection and audiobook covers those related book milestones.
