What is Riff Raff about?
Lionsgate describes Riff Raff as a darkly comic crime thriller about how far people will go to protect the people they love. Vincent (Ed Harris), his wife Sandy (Gabrielle Union) and their son DJ (Miles J. Harvey) are trying to enjoy a quiet holiday when Vincent’s disowned son Rocco (Lewis Pullman) arrives with his girlfriend Marina (Emanuela Postacchini) and Vincent’s ex-wife Ruth (Jennifer Coolidge). They bring a warning: gangsters Leftie and Lonnie are coming.
The setup makes the family gathering—not just the criminal threat—the engine of the story. Old relationships, divided loyalties and the danger of Vincent’s past collide in a dark comedy. Director Dito Montiel summed up his first reaction to the screenplay in the production notes: “When I first read Riff Raff, I felt I’d stumbled on a Mamet play no one had seen.”

Who does Bill Murray play?
Murray plays Leftie, a gangster who is part of the threat facing Vincent’s family. The official production notes and Apple TV listing both identify Murray’s role as Leftie. The “unhinged” description in the headline is a hook, not a character label established by those official materials.
