But the “sudden streaming hit” part of the headline is not verified for that film: the available chart figures concern Scott’s later movie Napoleon, not Kingdom of Heaven.
Which Ridley Scott movie is the headline about?
The film is Kingdom of Heaven, according to an exact match for the headline’s identification of Scott’s movie and the beginning of his disputes with historians. That identifies the subject of the claim; it does not establish the film’s current streaming performance. Source
Is Kingdom of Heaven a sudden streaming hit?
No title-specific evidence here confirms that claim. The reported streaming-chart statistics are for Napoleon, a different Scott film, and cannot substantiate a streaming surge for Kingdom of Heaven. Current service availability and regional access for Kingdom of Heaven are also unverified, so there is no confirmed platform recommendation.
Why is Ridley Scott associated with disputes over historical films?
The headline ties the earlier dispute to Kingdom of Heaven, but the detailed reporting available on historian criticism concerns the later Napoleon. Oxford historian Michael Broers, who consulted on that film, objected to its scene in which troops blast the Egyptian pyramids; the scene remained in the film. In a 2024 interview with The Guardian, Broers said: “He’s rather Napoleonic himself,” adding that he soon understood “we were making a movie, not a documentary.” The Guardian, November 16, 2024

What do the streaming numbers actually measure?
A September 1, 2026 report says Napoleon accumulated 244 days in Apple TV Top 10 movie charts across tracked markets and nearly 40,000 chart points. The report attributes those figures to FlixPatrol. They describe Napoleon only; no matching current streaming statistic for Kingdom of Heaven is established. FandomWire report, September 1, 2026
