Kennedy brings a more combat-focused approach. The game later launched on February 27, 2026; its current US PlayStation page also lists a free demo.
What Leon does in Resident Evil Requiem
In the showcase gameplay, Leon’s sections leaned into direct combat, with an approach reminiscent of Resident Evil 4. He uses firearms, a hatchet that can be sharpened, melee attacks and weapons taken from enemies, including a chainsaw. Capcom’s current PlayStation feature page also lists parries and customizable weapon parts among his combat options.
That makes Leon’s role distinct from Grace’s: his encounters emphasize engaging threats with a broader set of combat tools. The January showcase report also described evolved zombies with more human-like traits and limited speech, giving the threats a different character from ordinary enemies.
How Leon’s gameplay differs from Grace’s
Grace’s sections focus on survival under pressure. She has limited supplies, and players must judge whether to fight or flee. Her crafting system uses blood from defeated infected enemies to make items, ammunition and injectors, according to the current PlayStation feature page.

The contrast is not simply a choice between two characters. Capcom presents the story as combining action with survival horror, with each protagonist shaping how that tension feels. A story mystery called “Elpis” was also linked in the showcase coverage to Grace’s mother’s death.
Can you play either character in first or third person?
Yes. Capcom says both Leon and Grace can be played in first-person or third-person perspective, and the perspective can be switched during play. The choice applies to both protagonists rather than being limited to one character.

When Resident Evil Requiem launched, and where it is available
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Capcom Germany’s showcase recap names Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC and says the game was available on GeForce NOW from launch; GeForce NOW requires a separate membership.
The current US PlayStation product page lists a free demo as well as game editions. That is current availability information, not a claim about what was available at the January showcase.

Capcom’s reported sales
On March 4, 2026, Capcom reported that Resident Evil Requiem had surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide. The same release put cumulative sales for the Resident Evil series at more than 183 million units as of December 31, 2025.
