No public evidence confirms that Trump’s tariffs caused the regional differences in Resident Evil Requiem’s collector editions. Capcom’s Japanese listings show collector products, while Capcom USA’s pre-order announcement describes Deluxe and Steelbook Deluxe editions. The tariff explanation is speculation attributed to an outside commentator—not an explanation from Capcom.
Did Resident Evil Requiem have a Collector’s Edition?
Yes. Capcom’s Japan-market materials document a PS5 Collector’s Edition, and Capcom’s Japanese release announcement also identifies Collector’s Editions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom’s Japan store separately lists a Steam Collector’s Set, which is not the same product format as a physical console Collector’s Edition. Capcom’s PS5 Collector’s Edition listing and its Japanese release information establish that the edition existed in Japan.
That means “Resident Evil Requiem had no Collector’s Edition” is too broad. The available official sources establish Japanese editions, but do not establish whether a Collector’s Edition was offered in every other region.
What came in the Japanese Collector’s Edition?
Capcom’s Japan store listing describes a PS5 bundle combining the game’s Deluxe content with physical collector materials. It lists an art book, a lenticular card, and a figure of Grace Ashcroft, alongside the game and digital extras. The store listed the product at ¥12,500 including tax and showed delivery beginning February 27, 2026. These are Japan-market listing details, not a U.S. price or availability statement. Capcom’s Japanese release information lists the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 Collector’s Editions at a suggested retail price of ¥12,500 including tax, with a February 27, 2026 release date. It also describes a Steam Collector’s Set. The listed yen amount should not be converted into a U.S. price without a dated exchange rate and comparable tax and retailer terms. How did the U.S. editions differ?
In its November 26, 2025 U.S. pre-order announcement, Capcom described the Deluxe Edition and Steelbook Deluxe Edition. The latter adds a steelbook case and a limited lenticular card. This comparison describes what the cited official sources document; it is not proof that no U.S. Collector’s Edition existed through any other retailer or channel. Nor are the Japanese and U.S. product descriptions a direct price comparison: the U.S. announcement cited here gives no matching Collector’s Edition price.
Are Trump’s tariffs to blame?
That claim is unconfirmed. iXBT Games attributed the theory to outside commentator AestheticGamer1, who wrote: “As much as some people don’t want to hear it, I think it’s Donald Trump and his unpredictable, ever-changing tariffs that led to Resident Evil Requiem not having a collector’s edition”. This is the commentator’s opinion, not a statement by Capcom. iXBT Games’ report attributes the remark.

Capcom’s cited U.S. announcement does not give tariffs as the reason for its edition lineup, and the Japanese listings show that collector products were offered there. The public material cited here does not establish Capcom’s internal rationale, so it supports neither a confident claim that tariffs caused the regional difference nor a claim that tariffs played no role. A definitive answer would require a direct explanation from Capcom or other reliable evidence about the decision.

Capcom reported on March 4, 2026 that Resident Evil Requiem had passed 5 million units in worldwide sales after its February 27, 2026 release. That figure describes the game’s commercial scale; it does not explain why Capcom’s documented edition offerings differed by region. Capcom’s sales announcement.
