During the Associated Press’s 2025 Grammys red-carpet livestream, reporter Krysta Fauria interrupted an interview with Babyface to call out to Chappell Roan. Babyface stepped aside as the reporters turned to Roan. The AP later apologized to Babyface through his representative and to viewers, and Fauria apologized on camera.
What happened during Babyface’s interview?
The interruption happened on February 2, 2025, at the 67th Grammy Awards red carpet in Los Angeles. Associated Press reporters Krysta Fauria and Leslie Ambriz were speaking with Babyface. Their conversation had touched on the Los Angeles wildfires and music-community relief efforts before turning to genre-bending.
As Babyface was answering, Fauria called out to Chappell Roan, who was arriving nearby. Babyface paused, smiled and stepped aside while the reporters shifted their attention to Roan. PEOPLE’s report, syndicated by Yahoo, and Digital Music News’ account describe the moment.
What did the AP and reporter say afterward?
The AP acknowledged cutting the interview short and apologized to Babyface and the livestream audience. Digital Music News reproduced the AP’s statement: “We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet. We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the live stream.”

Fauria also apologized later in the livestream. Her apology, as reproduced by Digital Music News, was: “I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. But I’m a big Babyface fan, as are we all. And so I just wanted to say that I really apologize.”
Did Babyface publicly complain about the interruption?
The cited accounts do not report Babyface publicly accusing the reporters of disrespect or saying that he was upset. USA Today quoted his representative, Ernest Dukes, describing Babyface’s focus on reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists and feeling the love in the room. Dukes added: “Music is bigger than any one moment.” That reflection was attributed to his representative, not presented as a direct interview with Babyface.
