Fans had reasons to admire Papoose and Remy Ma’s relationship: its public story stretched across years and included a 2016 wedding ceremony and a child born in December 2018. But that story was never proof of what happened in private. When the couple began trading accusations in December 2024, Remy Ma’s later comments challenged the loyal-couple image—not by establishing every allegation, but by exposing how much of that image depended on what the public could see.
Why Papoose became a symbol of loyalty
The pedestal grew from a long public narrative. Complex reported that the couple had planned to marry in 2008, held a formal wedding ceremony in 2016, and welcomed a child in December 2018. Those milestones made it easy for audiences to read their relationship as a sustained example of commitment.

That interpretation was understandable, but it had limits. A public timeline can show what a couple chose to share; it cannot certify the quality of a private marriage. The same visible history that made Papoose a symbol of devotion could not tell fans what either partner experienced behind closed doors. Complex’s December 2024 account reported the milestones and the later public dispute.
What changed when the couple’s accounts diverged
On December 12, 2024, Remy Ma accused Papoose of involvement with boxer Claressa Shields and posted messages she described as supporting evidence. Papoose denied her account and accused Remy of repeated infidelity, saying he had asked for a divorce several times. These are competing allegations and attributed statements; the reporting establishes that they were made, not that either account is true.

The distinction matters: screenshots and public statements may document what someone presented or said, but they do not independently settle what happened privately. The cited coverage does not establish who was faithful, when any alleged relationship began, or the full circumstances of the marriage. Calling the disputed claims proven facts would go beyond what the public record supports.
What Remy Ma’s later remarks do—and don’t—show
In a May 2025 Instagram Live, as reported by HOT 97, Remy said, “I’ve never breathed so freely,” and, “People would cry if they knew the truth.” The remarks convey her public perspective and suggest that the audience’s understanding was incomplete. They do not identify or substantiate the unspecified private details she referenced. HOT 97’s report quotes the livestream.

In another May 2025 report, Complex said Remy wanted the divorce completed and offered to pay for it. Shields, speaking about her relationship with Papoose, said she felt secure while also acknowledging that the separation would take time. Those remarks should be read as each speaker’s own account, not independent confirmation of the other’s claims. Complex reported both statements.
“Was Remy right?” depends on what the question means
If “right” means that the public’s idealized image of Papoose was not a reliable account of the whole marriage, the later dispute and Remy’s remarks make that a defensible interpretation. The pedestal was built from a public story, and the people inside the relationship later described a more conflicted reality.

If “right” means that Remy’s allegations against Papoose have been independently proven—or that Papoose’s accusations against Remy have been disproven—the cited reporting cannot support that conclusion. Papoose disputed Remy’s account and offered allegations of his own; neither side’s claims should be converted into a finding of fact. The clearest conclusion is about the limits of the image, not a verdict on the private events.

Papoose filed for divorce in May 2025, according to Complex. Reports located through September 2026 did not confirm a final divorce judgment. In September 2026, TMZ reported that Remy described herself as single and focused on music; TheGrio that same month described the divorce as pending in its coverage. Her reported personal description does not, by itself, establish the legal status of the marriage.
