Spoilers for all nine anime rounds: The best Record of Ragnarok fight is Round 3, Kojiro Sasaki vs. Poseidon. It turns the series’ grand clash of gods and humans into a sharp contest of adaptation and resolve. This is a subjective ranking, not an official ordering; it weighs character chemistry, tactical variety, emotional payoff, stakes, and how clearly each fight’s conflict comes through.
The ranking includes Rounds 1–9, the bouts adapted through Season 3. Netflix describes Ragnarok as a 13-fight tournament, won by the first side to claim seven victories; its Tudum coverage says Season 3 premiered December 10, 2025. Netflix Tudum Netflix

-
Round 3: Kojiro Sasaki vs. Poseidon
This is the strongest clash of temperament and fighting style: Sasaki’s patience and ability to learn meet Poseidon’s contemptuous certainty. The duel keeps its central question legible—can relentless adaptation overcome overwhelming confidence? Its payoff grows naturally from that contrast, making it the most complete fight in the anime.
-
Round 2: Adam vs. Zeus
The emotional premise is unusually direct: humanity’s first man stands against the king of the gods. Their opposing roles give the bout immediate stakes, while Adam’s reason for fighting makes the spectacle personal rather than merely a test of strength. It ranks just below Round 3 because its central appeal is more concentrated in that emotional confrontation than in a shifting tactical contest.

Round 4: Jack the Ripper vs. Heracles
This pairing creates a compelling moral and psychological contrast between a calculating killer and a hero whose compassion extends even to his opponent. The fight’s distinctive appeal is the tension between what each man represents and what the other believes about humanity. That character conflict earns it a high place, even if its appeal depends more on the duel’s themes than on a simple contest of power.
-
Round 6: Buddha vs. Zerofuku and Hajun
Buddha’s choice to fight for humanity gives the round an immediate reversal of expectation. The changing opposition also makes this one of the tournament’s more unusual entries: the conflict is not just about which fighter can hit harder, but about despair, agency, and the possibility of changing course. Its shifts make it memorable, though they leave it less tightly focused than the top three.

-
Round 8: Nikola Tesla vs. Beelzebub
Round 8 gets much of its appeal from the contrast between Tesla’s inventive optimism and Beelzebub’s bleak, self-destructive outlook. Their approaches invite a more technical clash, with the human fighter’s ingenuity set against a god’s formidable power. It is one of the clearest thematic pairings in the later rounds, though its emotional force is less immediate than the strongest early bouts.
-
Round 5: Raiden Tameemon vs. Shiva
Two fighters defined by extraordinary physical ability make this the tournament’s most direct power-versus-power matchup. Raiden’s personal history gives his strength a human cost, while Shiva brings the confidence and force expected of a chief god. The fight delivers a strong physical contest, but its central dynamic is less varied than the tactical and ideological clashes ranked above it.

Round 9: King Leonidas vs. Apollo
Leonidas’s defiance and Apollo’s pride make for a natural clash of wills. The round works best when it puts their different ideas of strength and glory in opposition, giving the bout more to say than “warrior against warrior.” It ranks in the middle because that contrast is engaging, but the matchup is not as layered as the series’ most effective character pairings.
-
Round 7: Qin Shi Huang vs. Hades
Qin and Hades bring regal confidence to a fight shaped by duty, loyalty, and the burdens of leadership. Their status gives the round a clear sense of occasion, and their opposing responsibilities make the rivalry more than a clash of titles. It falls below the top tier because the shared grandeur of the matchup can make the two fighters feel less sharply opposed than the best pairings.
Rank #4
-
Round 1: Lü Bu vs. Thor
The opening bout establishes the tournament’s scale with two warriors eager to meet an equal. Its directness is useful: the fight quickly communicates that the gods are not facing an ordinary human contest. But as an introduction, it has less character complexity and tactical evolution than the rounds that follow, so it lands last in a ranking focused on the full dramatic package.
How to read the ranking
The ordering is an editorial judgment, not a canonical or audience-voted ranking. It favors fights whose personalities, tactics, and stakes reinforce one another. A reader who values spectacle or a particular character above dramatic structure could reasonably put the rounds in a different order.

Where the anime’s story stands
Netflix’s official series page lists three seasons, while Tudum reports that Season 3 is streaming and covers the continuation of the tournament. The series is designed for 13 one-on-one bouts, with the first side to seven wins taking the contest. Netflix’s Media Center describes the score before Round 7 as 3–3, making that bout a tiebreaker. Netflix Media Center
Season 3’s announced matchups are Qin Shi Huang vs. Hades in Round 7, Nikola Tesla vs. Beelzebub in Round 8, and King Leonidas vs. Apollo in Round 9, according to publisher Coamix. The season’s inclusion matters: a list ending after the first six rounds leaves out the tournament’s later turning point and two further fights. Coamix
For readers who want to continue with the manga
