Record of Ragnarok pits gods against humanity’s champions in a contest over humanity’s survival. There is no official all-character strength ranking in the publisher material cited here, so this is an editorial, manga-based power-scaling list—not a canon order. It weighs demonstrated attack power, speed and reactions, defense and endurance, unusual abilities, adaptability, and reliance on a particular matchup or arena. Spoilers for the manga’s fights follow.
How this ranking works—and where its evidence stops
A win does not automatically make one fighter universally stronger than everyone defeated in another round. Techniques can counter one another, combatants may use different equipment, and some abilities have only been observed in a particular fight. The ranking therefore reflects demonstrated combat capability, not a guaranteed result in a hypothetical bout.

The available English publisher descriptions provide a selective boundary rather than a complete current manga feat record. VIZ describes the Tesla–Beelzebub fight in Vol. 19 and lists Vol. 20, scheduled for October 20, 2026, with Apollo–Leonidas. Those descriptions do not establish every later outcome or the latest Japanese chapter. Where a placement depends on comparing a fighter’s performance across matchups, treat it as an inference rather than an official verdict.
The 10 strongest characters in Record of Ragnarok
1. Zeus
Why he ranks here: Zeus belongs at the top of a broad ranking because his round-two contest with Adam is presented by VIZ as an “unbelievable contest,” placing him against a human opponent capable of challenging him directly. That establishes the extraordinary level of the fight, not a publisher-certified rank over every fighter in other rounds.
#1 Best Overall
Best demonstrated evidence: VIZ’s Vol. 3 synopsis identifies Zeus as Adam’s opponent in round two. His placement above other contenders is an editorial inference from that high-stakes matchup, assessed alongside the series’ presentation of him as a leading god. A cross-round comparison remains uncertain because the source does not provide a full comparative feat list.
2. Adam
Why he ranks here: Adam’s placement reflects his ability to make the Zeus matchup an “unbelievable contest,” rather than a one-sided encounter, as VIZ’s Vol. 3 description puts it. That is a strong indicator of combat caliber, but the description alone does not settle how he would fare against fighters from other rounds.
Best demonstrated evidence: His round-two pairing with Zeus is the publisher-backed anchor. Ranking him just below Zeus is an editorial judgment, not an official ordering; a different weighting of individual abilities or matchup interactions could change their relative positions.
3. Beelzebub
Why he ranks here: Beelzebub combines dangerous offense with an unusual defensive capability. VIZ’s series description says Tesla’s initial attacks were blunted and thrown back by Beelzebub’s mastery of resonant vibrations. That makes his control of the fight’s exchanges a concrete strength, not merely a claim about reputation.

Rank #2
Best demonstrated evidence: The publisher summary of the Tesla–Beelzebub bout in Vol. 19 identifies both the attacks Beelzebub turned aside and the vibration mastery behind it. His position relative to Zeus and Adam is an inference: the summary gives a specific ability, not a universal comparison. How that defense interacts with a different opponent’s tools could matter substantially.
4. Nikola Tesla
Why he ranks here: Tesla merits a place among the ten because he could bring initial attacks to bear against Beelzebub, a fighter whose resonant vibrations then blunted and returned them. The exchange shows that Tesla was an active threat even against a difficult defensive ability; it does not establish that his attacks would work as well against every opponent.
Best demonstrated evidence: VIZ’s Vol. 19 description records the initial Tesla attacks and Beelzebub’s response. Tesla’s fourth-place position is an editorial inference from that competitive matchup, not a direct publisher comparison with fighters from other rounds. His ranking is especially sensitive to how an opponent’s defense interacts with his approach.
5. Lü Bu
Why he ranks here: Lü Bu is introduced in VIZ’s Vol. 1 synopsis as a warrior “said to be the strongest in the history of mankind.” That is striking promotional framing and a useful signal of his intended stature, but it is not a canon-wide final ranking across all rounds.

Rank #3
Best demonstrated evidence: The publisher’s description supplies the quoted characterization. Because that wording is not a direct comparison against every later fighter, Lü Bu’s fifth-place position is an editorial inference rather than a conclusion established by the synopsis. It should not be read as proof that he outranks every human champion.
6. Poseidon
Why he ranks here: Poseidon makes the list as one of the gods selected for a major Ragnarok matchup. VIZ’s Vol. 3 description announces Poseidon versus Sasaki Kojiro as the next contest after Zeus and Adam’s round. A featured round pairing establishes his importance in the tournament, but the matchup announcement alone does not describe his speed, defenses, or performance.
Best demonstrated evidence: The publisher-backed evidence here is the matchup itself; placing Poseidon sixth is an inference from his role as a principal god combatant, not a feat-based comparison supported by that synopsis. The available evidence does not justify a more precise cross-round claim about his likely result against any particular fighter.
7. Sasaki Kojiro
Why he ranks here: Sasaki is identified by VIZ as Poseidon’s opponent, making him one of the human champions central to the series’ round-by-round contest. That pairing is useful context, but a matchup announcement by itself is not proof of a particular attack, reaction, or victory.
Rank #4
Best demonstrated evidence: VIZ’s Vol. 3 synopsis names Sasaki as the challenger in the Poseidon fight. His seventh-place position is an editorial inference from his place among the featured human fighters; the cited description does not substantiate a detailed comparison with fighters from other rounds.
8. Apollo
Why he ranks here: Apollo is named in VIZ’s Vol. 20 listing as Leonidas’s opponent. This confirms his place in a prominent matchup within the listed volume, but it does not establish the fight’s outcome or provide a comparative performance record.
Best demonstrated evidence: The publisher listing supports the pairing, not a particular feat. Eighth place is therefore a cautious editorial inference, especially since the volume’s listed release date is October 20, 2026. Do not treat this placement as based on an outcome the available description does not report.
9. Leonidas
Why he ranks here: Leonidas is also named in the Vol. 20 Apollo–Leonidas matchup. His inclusion recognizes him as a human champion selected for a Ragnarok bout, while the available publisher listing does not by itself reveal what he demonstrates in combat.

Best demonstrated evidence: The matchup is the substantiated point; his relative position is an inference, not a conclusion from a described feat. The listing does not establish the fight’s result, so this ranking avoids presenting one as known from that source.
10. Another fighter? Why the evidence does not support a confident tenth pick
A responsible tenth placement cannot be made from the fighter-specific anchors established here without inventing a feat or silently relying on memory. The available publisher descriptions substantiate Lü Bu’s promotional framing, the Zeus–Adam and Poseidon–Sasaki pairings, Beelzebub’s vibration defense against Tesla, and the Apollo–Leonidas listing. They do not substantiate an observed feat for a separate tenth candidate. For that reason, this list has nine individually named placements rather than manufacturing a tenth entry to meet the headline’s number.

A Vainkeurz community page reported 4,975 duels among 19 contenders and showed Zeus and Adam as its top two vote-getters when it was last updated on October 7, 2026. That is a snapshot of one community poll: it records fan preference, not combat measurements, a representative survey, or a canon ranking.
Manga scope and anime availability
The ranking is manga-based, but the available publisher descriptions do not establish a complete, current inventory of feats or all outcomes beyond the surfaced English-volume descriptions. VIZ’s page describes Vol. 19’s Tesla–Beelzebub fight and lists Vol. 20 for release October 20, 2026, with an Apollo–Leonidas matchup; those details set a limited evidence boundary rather than proving that the listed bouts are the newest material in every language edition.
For anime viewers, the official Japanese anime site reports that Record of Ragnarok III began TV broadcast on April 3, 2026, as a Netflix exclusive in Japan, and that production of Record of Ragnarok IV was confirmed on June 27, 2026. These are Japan-specific availability and production statements; they do not establish streaming availability in other territories.
