Wilson said several women had been in contact after she made her claims about Baron Cohen. What did Rebel Wilson say about Sacha Baron Cohen?
Wilson’s memoir Rebel Rising describes her feeling humiliated and degraded while working on the 2016 film Grimsby, released in the UK as The Brothers Grimsby. On March 25, 2024, The Guardian reported that Wilson publicly identified Baron Cohen as the person she had described in the book. The April 7 reports do not name the women or include stories from them. Wilson’s quoted statement says they could decide whether to go public. It would therefore be inaccurate to treat the reported contacts as proof of a broader pattern or as corroboration of Wilson’s claims.

What was Sacha Baron Cohen’s response?
Baron Cohen’s representatives rejected Wilson’s allegations. The Guardian quoted them as saying: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.” (The Guardian, March 25, 2024; amended March 26)

Reports in 2026 about a defamation case involving Wilson, actor Charlotte MacInnes and producer Amanda Ghost concern a separate dispute connected to Wilson’s film The Deb. ABC News Australia reported on MacInnes’s case, and the Associated Press reported that the Federal Court dismissed it in July 2026.
