Ray J performed in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 14, 2026, weeks after making alarming public statements about his heart and saying, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me.” Footage from the concert appeared to show red liquid running from his eye and a device on his chest, but it does not establish that he was bleeding or identify the device. A backstage witness quoted by the Los Angeles Times said Ray J applied fake blood before going onstage.

Those images document how the performance appeared; they do not by themselves establish a medical cause for the liquid or the purpose of the chest device.

The Los Angeles Times quoted Tommy Nard II of Nard Multimedia Group, who said he saw Ray J put on fake blood before going onstage: “It’s all theatrical … I seen him literally put on the fake blood and go out there.” That is a named witness’s account, not a medical finding. The distinction matters: the footage shows an apparent effect, while Nard offers an explanation for it; neither amounts to a diagnosis.
What did Ray J say about his health before the show?
In an Instagram video dated January 25, Ray J said his heart was “only beating 25 percent” and added that staying focused and on the right path would help everything be all right, according to E! News. He also said, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me.” Reports characterized his comments as describing only months to live, but the statements are his own public account—not a verified prognosis from a clinician or a published medical record.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Ray J had also described his heart as beating at 60 percent and suggested that the percentage might refer to ejection fraction. That is the newspaper’s interpretation; the reporting does not confirm a diagnosis or provide a clinician’s explanation of either figure. His “25 percent” remark should not be treated as an independently verified clinical measurement.
E! reported that Ray J had been released from hospital after pneumonia. The Los Angeles Times likewise described his account of hospitalization and heart concerns. These reports recount what was said about his health; they do not independently establish the full medical picture.

Why did he perform after saying he had months to live?
Ray J did not provide a detailed public explanation tying his decision to perform to a medical assessment. Before the concert, he wrote, “I’m putting my life on the line for this show!!” in a Facebook caption reported by E! News. In backstage footage, he said, “I’ve been getting better.” In another clip, he said, “Hey, y’all, we perfectly fine. Ain’t nobody sick. Look at me, I’m fine,” as quoted by the Los Angeles Times.
Those remarks show what Ray J said around the performance, not whether performing was medically safe or what his condition was. They do not resolve the contrast between his earlier alarming comments and his later assurances.

What was the device on his chest?
Concert footage appeared to show a device on Ray J’s chest, but the reports cited here do not establish its exact identity or purpose. It should not be identified as a heart monitor or another specific medical device without confirmation.
