Burbank police say four men were arrested in connection with a December 2, 2025, burglary at LA Sports Cards, where the estimated loss was about $100,000 in collectible merchandise. The total included Pokémon trading card products, rare sports cards and other collectibles; police did not say how much of that estimate came from Pokémon items alone.
What happened at LA Sports Cards?
At about 2 a.m. on December 2, 2025, Burbank officers responded to a commercial burglary in progress at LA Sports Cards, 1922 W. Olive Avenue. According to the Burbank Police Department’s account, officers found evidence that the business’s front had been forcibly entered and the interior ransacked. The suspects had left before officers arrived.
The police department calls the incident a burglary. Some early coverage used “heist” and described a rapid break-in, but the official release does not establish an exact duration for the crime.
What was stolen, and what does the $100,000 figure mean?
After an inventory, the estimated loss was approximately $100,000 in collectible merchandise. Police said the stolen property included Pokémon trading card products, rare sports cards and other collectibles. The department did not itemize the merchandise or divide the estimate by category.

That means the $100,000 figure is not a valuation of Pokémon cards alone. The police release also does not name specific Pokémon cards or sets, or give values for individual items.
How did police identify and arrest suspects?
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and used investigative technology to identify suspects, police said. The department reported serving search warrants at four locations on December 18, 2025, and January 8, 2026, and recovering evidence it said linked individuals to the burglary.

Why reports describe three thieves but police announced four arrests
An initial HotHardware report, published December 9, 2025, described three masked thieves and a three-minute break-in. The later police release reported four arrests in connection with the burglary. Those accounts can refer to different stages of reporting: an initial description of people seen in footage is not necessarily the final count of people police allege were involved. The official release does not confirm an exact three-minute duration.
HotHardware also attributed the comment “It seemed like they had it down pat” to store owner Kiet Nguyen. That is a statement reported by HotHardware, not a quotation in the police release.
