Yes. Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth were married in real life before becoming one of wrestling’s best-known on-screen partnerships. Biography.com reports that they married in December 1984. Their WWF/WWE storylines later included a separate, televised wedding at SummerSlam 1991; their real marriage ended in divorce in 1992. They went on to work together again in WCW, where Elizabeth returned to manage Savage in 1996.
Before WWF: a real relationship and marriage
Savage met Elizabeth Hulette while she was working at a gym in Lexington, Kentucky, according to Biography.com. She also appeared as an announcer at events for his family’s International Championship Wrestling (ICW). Biography.com reports that they married in December 1984; the source does not establish an exact wedding day.
1985–1988: Elizabeth becomes Savage’s manager
When Savage joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1985, he introduced Elizabeth as his manager. WWE’s Miss Elizabeth profile and Randy Savage profile confirm the start of their professional partnership that year.
In WWE’s account of the storyline, Elizabeth’s influence helped Savage win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania IV in 1988. The private marriage and the on-screen partnership existed alongside each other, but the televised events were scripted wrestling stories, not independent evidence about the couple’s life at home.

1987–1989: the Mega Powers storyline and Elizabeth’s departure
Savage and Hulk Hogan formed the Mega Powers on screen. WWE’s retrospectives describe Savage growing jealous of Elizabeth’s friendship with Hogan, a conflict that contributed to the team’s breakup at WrestleMania V in 1989, where Hogan defeated Savage for the championship. This was a wrestling storyline; it should not be treated as proof of what caused tension in the real marriage.
In 1989, Savage replaced Elizabeth with Sensational Sherri as his manager. WWE presents Elizabeth’s departure from Savage’s side as part of the Mega Powers-era story. That on-screen split is different from the later end of their private marriage.

1991: their on-screen reunion and a second, televised wedding
WrestleMania VII reunion
After Savage lost a retirement match to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VII in 1991, Sherri attacked him. Elizabeth came from the audience to defend him, and the two embraced. WWE frames that moment as the reunion of their on-screen pairing.
SummerSlam’s “Match Made in Heaven”
Later that summer, WWF presented Savage and Elizabeth’s wedding as “Match Made in Heaven” at SummerSlam. WWE’s retrospective says there was a televised proposal before the ceremony. This was a separate wrestling-TV event, not their first marriage: Biography.com dates their real wedding to December 1984. WWE’s 2007 retrospective says more than 20,000 wedding guests attended at Madison Square Garden; that figure is WWE’s account of the televised event, not an independently verified attendance count.

1992: the real marriage ends
Biography.com describes the marriage as troubled and says the divorce was finalized after Elizabeth left. WWE’s retrospective also gives 1992 as the divorce year. The sources establish the year, not a definitive exact date, and they do not establish a single confirmed reason for the divorce.
Storylines around the couple should not be used to fill that gap. In particular, WWE describes Ric Flair’s on-screen claims of an affair with Elizabeth as false in its Savage profile; the angle was part of the wrestling narrative, not evidence of an actual affair.

1996 onward: a professional reunion in WCW
Elizabeth returned to manage Savage in WCW in 1996, according to WWE. She also spent time with the Four Horsemen and was later aligned with Savage and Hogan in the nWo. Biography.com describes their WCW work as a professional reunion after the divorce. The available accounts do not provide a complete episode-by-episode chronology, and their working together again does not mean they remarried or resumed a romance.
After WWE bought WCW, WWE says Elizabeth retired from sports entertainment.
