The concert was led by Naomi Pigram-Mitchell, a singer-songwriter who the report also identifies as Black Swan’s Indigenous engagement and program manager. She worked on the project with her brother Bart Pigram and artists associated with Kuckles, Scrap Metal and the Pigram Brothers.
Why the concert brought generations together
The report framed the production as a tribute to established Kimberley musicians and a platform for the next generation. Pigram-Mitchell described its purpose this way: “This is about honouring the pioneers of Kimberley music while amplifying the voices of the next generation”.
#1 Best Overall
She also reflected on the musical community she grew up around: “I grew up surrounded by incredible musicians, people who shaped our region’s sound and inspired me to carry it forward,”
How the report described the Broome sound
PerthNow characterized Broome’s music as a blend of Indigenous, Asian and European influences that developed during the pearling boom. That is the report’s cultural framing, rather than a comprehensive or independently verified history of Kimberley music. The article’s central account is of a concert connecting artists and generations through the region’s musical heritage.
