Spoilers for Queen of Tears Season 1, Episode 12. Hae-in’s worsening hallucinations let Eun-sung exploit her confusion, while Hyun-woo is left in danger. The episode also advances the Queens Group slush-fund mystery and gives the couple a brief, hard-won moment of calm.
What happens in episode 12?
The episode begins at a warehouse, where Hae-in and Hyun-woo review CCTV footage as they search for the Queens Group slush fund. Hae-in recognizes a truck from the day the chairman sent them away to change the ventilators. They suspect the money may have been moved from the warehouse to the Hong residence.

When Hyun-woo steps away to get the car, Eun-sung approaches Hae-in. Her symptoms make her mistake him for Hyun-woo, and Eun-sung knowingly uses that confusion to get her into his car. Hyun-woo follows, but is attacked and left at the mercy of the broker. Netflix’s episode description likewise highlights Hae-in’s hallucinations and Hyun-woo being captured and in peril.
How does Hae-in get away from Eun-sung?
At the Hong residence, Eun-sung tries to keep Hae-in with him over dinner and tells her he once saved her. The episode’s recap establishes that his account of rescuing her from drowning is a lie. Hae-in turns her attention instead to her ailing grandfather. She puts a secret recording pen within his reach and prompts him to mention the air-raid shelter, leaving a clue for the slush-fund investigation.

Later, disoriented in the garden, Hae-in encounters Hyun-woo. He convinces her that he is himself, not Eun-sung, and they leave together.
How does Hyun-woo survive the broker?
The broker threatens Hyun-woo, but Hyun-woo argues that murder would carry a far heavier sentence than fraud. The reasoning persuades the broker not to kill him. The episode’s danger is real, but Hyun-woo survives this encounter.

What changes for the other characters?
Da-hye leaves with Gun-woo
Da-hye acts against Gun-woo’s abusive biological father: she drugs his drink, takes money and the gold Buddha statue, and leaves with Gun-woo.
Grace shifts her position
Grace meets with Eun-sung and Seul-hee. The episode reveals that she helped Hyun-woo get into the mansion and is now bargaining with the opposing side, adding another uncertain loyalty to the Queens Group conflict.

Why the ending matters
The episode moves between a corporate mystery and Hae-in’s increasingly dangerous difficulty distinguishing people around her. The CCTV footage and recording-pen clue keep the slush-fund thread moving; the garden scene turns her confusion into immediate personal risk. After the abduction and attack, Hae-in and Hyun-woo spend the night at his apartment in a rare, quiet domestic interlude. She tells him about the recording pen, linking their renewed closeness to the investigation still ahead.

Queen of Tears is a 2024 Korean romantic-comedy/romance series starring Kim Ji-won as Hong Hae-in and Kim Soo-hyun as Baek Hyun-woo; Park Sung-hoon plays Yoon Eun-sung.
