Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is Guy Delisle’s illustrated account of a two-month work stay in North Korea’s capital. The available publisher listings identify a 2018 US paperback and a UK ebook listing, but they do not establish an official PDF edition. For the US paperback, look for ISBN 9781770463370.
Is there an official PDF edition?
The publisher information available identifies the US English-language edition as a paperback, while a UK publisher listing offers paperback and ebook formats. Neither listing establishes an official PDF edition. Do not assume that a file labelled “PDF” is an authorized publisher version; check the format and publisher details before downloading or buying.

What is the book about?
Delisle recounts a two-month stay in Pyongyang while working in animation for a French company. Publishers describe the book as graphic nonfiction about the routines, official messaging and constraints he encountered, told through his skeptical, often sardonic perspective. Its documentary interest lies in that first-person account and the gap between official presentation and the narrator’s experience.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How much of North Korea does it represent?
This is a personal account of a managed visit, not a comprehensive survey of North Korea or an unmediated report on its people and daily life. Drawn & Quarterly says Delisle observed what he was allowed to see; the UK publisher says he was accompanied by a translator and guide when exploring Pyongyang and the countryside. Read the book as one foreign worker’s limited vantage point, and treat its depicted events as the memoir’s account rather than independent verification of conditions throughout the country.
