Project Hail Mary has reached about $684.5 million worldwide in The Numbers’ listing accessed October 8, 2026. Separately, Box Office Watch’s live model predicts a final domestic total of $348 million to $362 million. That is a forecast—not a reported final gross—and it should not be confused with the film’s worldwide total.

How much has Project Hail Mary made?

The Numbers lists Project Hail Mary at $344,050,007 domestic, $340,439,940 international, and $684,489,947 worldwide. These are cumulative box-office figures in the database listing accessed October 8, 2026, and may be revised. The Numbers’ listing reports the three totals separately.

The film opened domestically on March 20, 2026, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. The Numbers records an $80,506,007 opening weekend across 4,007 theaters and domestic legs of 4.27. “Legs” compares a film’s total domestic gross with its opening weekend; it describes the run’s relationship to its debut, not profitability.

What is the updated final box-office projection?

Box Office Watch’s live model listed a $348 million–$362 million predicted final domestic gross when accessed October 8, 2026. Its model page says the prediction reflects second- and third-weekend holds of -33% and -41%. The range is a forecast of the eventual U.S. and Canadian total, not a final audited figure or a worldwide projection. Box Office Watch’s live prediction may change as the model updates.

The predicted range is about $4 million to $18 million above The Numbers’ listed domestic gross of $344.05 million. That difference does not indicate a new worldwide milestone: The Numbers’ worldwide figure is a separate cumulative total that includes international grosses.

Box Office Watch also describes a wider $316 million–$393 million band as covering 90% of outcomes after the third weekend. That is historical model context, not the live $348 million–$362 million prediction listed on October 8.

When did it pass the major milestone?

Variety reported on March 30, 2026, that the film had crossed $300 million worldwide and become Amazon MGM’s highest-grossing film at that time. The studio-record milestone belongs to that date; it was reached months before The Numbers’ later listing of approximately $684.5 million worldwide. Variety’s March 30 report described it as Amazon MGM’s highest-grossing film ever.

A separate historical snapshot underscores why dates matter: during the film’s sixth weekend, the Associated Press reported $305.3 million domestic and $613.3 million worldwide. Those figures predate The Numbers’ October listing and should not be presented as current totals. The Associated Press report gives that earlier weekend snapshot.

Does the box office mean the film was profitable?

The Numbers lists a $200 million production budget, but comparing that figure with theatrical gross does not establish profit. The budget alone does not account for distribution and marketing costs, revenue sharing with theaters, or other expenses and income. Gross divided by production budget is therefore not a profit calculation.

What is the film, and what are its listed details?

Project Hail Mary is based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel. The Numbers lists the film as PG-13 with a 156-minute runtime; Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are credited as directors, and Ryan Gosling stars. The Numbers’ film listing provides the release and box-office details, while Andy Weir’s book page identifies the novel behind the adaptation.
