Start by noting PRISM Live Studio’s exact error message and code, then check on another device whether YouTube still shows the broadcast as live. A desktop YouTube RTMP stream that stops with “Disconnected from server” (57995) calls for network checks first; dropped-frame notices may instead point to rendering or encoding. Mobile streams have different failure causes. Try the matching steps below one change at a time where practical—none is a guaranteed fix.
First, identify what is disconnecting
- Record PRISM’s exact notification and code. Note whether the stream never connects, starts and then stops, reports dropped frames while continuing, or appears to have been ended by YouTube.
- Check the broadcast in YouTube on another device. This helps distinguish a PRISM connection problem from a stream that is still live or was ended at the platform.
- Note your setup. Record whether you use desktop Windows or Mac, or PRISM mobile; whether you are on Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet; and any recent changes to network, settings, or scene sources.
PRISM’s desktop guidance identifies error 57995 as “Disconnected from server” for a YouTube RTMP stream. Error 57998, “Failed to connect to the server,” describes a failure to connect, not necessarily a stream that was already running and then dropped. PRISM’s help pages do not state publication years.
Desktop: fix “Disconnected from server” (error 57995)
Test the network connection
For this error, PRISM lists local network instability, insufficient upload speed, weak Wi-Fi, and firewall or security-software interference as possible causes. Its guidance recommends wired LAN rather than Wi-Fi for steadier transmission. If Ethernet is available, try an existing cable and port first; if your computer lacks an Ethernet port, an adapter may be needed, but check compatibility with your computer before buying one.
- Pause large uploads, downloads, cloud backups, or other heavy activity on the same connection and test again.
- If possible, switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet and repeat the stream test.
- Check firewall and antivirus settings for PRISM and the connection it needs. Prefer an allow-list or help from your network administrator.
PRISM’s 57995 guidance gives no universal upload-speed threshold. Do not treat a speed-test result alone as proof that the connection is stable during a broadcast.

Check security software cautiously
PRISM lists antivirus or firewall interference as a possible cause and suggests temporarily disabling those protections as a diagnostic test. If you consider that test, keep it brief, use it only on a trusted network, and restore protection immediately afterward. Do not leave your computer unprotected to keep streaming. If the device is managed by work or school, ask its administrator instead.
Desktop: match dropped-frame notices to the bottleneck
A stream can remain live while PRISM reports dropped frames. Match the notification to the likely failure layer rather than changing unrelated settings.

| PRISM notice or symptom | Likely area to test | Changes PRISM suggests |
|---|---|---|
| “Your network connection is unstable” | Network transmission | Test a steadier connection, preferably wired LAN, and reduce competing network activity. |
| Slow rendering | Computer load or scene sources | Close unnecessary programs, reduce sources, or lower 60 FPS to 30 FPS. More capable CPU/GPU hardware may help if the computer remains constrained. |
| Poor encoding | Encoder, FPS, bitrate, or CPU/GPU capacity | Try another available encoder, lower FPS, or reduce bitrate. Encoder options depend on graphics hardware; PRISM recommends keeping its default encoder unless a change is needed. |
PRISM’s performance guidance also suggests lowering resolution, bitrate, and FPS when the PC or network is strained; higher values and numerous scene sources can add CPU/GPU load. In the desktop app, the relevant settings are generally Settings > Output > Advanced > Streaming for bitrate and encoder, and Settings > Video for resolution and FPS. Labels or locations can differ by app version.
- Change one setting, then test the stream long enough to see whether the same notification returns.
- If rendering is slow, first reduce scene/source load and close unneeded applications; then test a lower frame rate or resolution if needed.
- If encoding is poor, test a lower bitrate or FPS. Change the encoder only if another option is available and the default does not resolve the issue.
Desktop: use the IPv4 workaround only for the matching case
PRISM’s error 57998 guidance concerns “Failed to connect to the server.” Its IPv4-only and network-optimization steps are specifically directed to users in India and Indonesia, where PRISM describes unstable IPv6 or network-transition conditions. They are not a universal remedy for a stream that disconnects after going live.

If you are outside the stated regions or do not have error 57998, do not change IP family on this basis alone.
PRISM mobile: check bandwidth, adaptive settings, and RTMP details
Keep mobile troubleshooting separate from desktop settings. PRISM says its mobile streaming error appears when the connection between its RTMP engine and the receiving platform is lost for more than 10 minutes. Its listed possibilities include unstable or insufficient bandwidth, a missing or invalid RTMP address, a connection problem between the app and platform, or limits on the account’s streaming permissions.

Reduce strain on the mobile connection
- Try a more stable network, and avoid moving between networks during a stream.
- Lower the streaming resolution if the connection cannot sustain the current setting.
- If you turned off Adaptive, restore it and test again. PRISM says adaptive bitrate adjusts bitrate and FPS to live network conditions, potentially reducing image quality to improve stability.
- Check for device heat or processing strain; close other demanding apps and let an overheated device cool before testing again.
Use PRISM’s bitrate figures as app guidance, not YouTube rules
PRISM’s FAQ recommends the following bitrate ranges by resolution, along with 30 fps for normal live broadcasts and a 1–2 second keyframe interval. These are PRISM recommendations; the FAQ gives broad app guidance rather than specifying desktop YouTube requirements for every value.
| Resolution | PRISM FAQ bitrate recommendation |
|---|---|
| 360p | 1–2 Mbps |
| 720p | 2–4 Mbps |
| 1080p | 4–6 Mbps |
PRISM’s mobile performance guide gives illustrative bandwidth ranges for generated chunks when Adaptive is off: 1080p, 0.1–4 or 0.1–6 Mbps; 720p, 0.1–2.5 or 0.1–4 Mbps; 480p, 0.1–2.0 Mbps; and 360p, 0.1–1.5 Mbps. It says the mobile network should exceed the relevant capacity and suggests at least twice the stated bandwidth for high-quality live streaming. Treat these as that guide’s examples, not a universal threshold or a guarantee of stability.

Check the RTMP address, key, and permissions
If you entered an RTMP URL and stream key manually, confirm the address and key match the destination platform and are current. Never publish or share the key: anyone with it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Also check that the account is permitted to stream. PRISM’s address-format guidance is about setting up RTMP details; it does not make a sample key a usable credential.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Confirm whether YouTube or the device ended the broadcast
PRISM says it checks whether the stream remains live on the platform and can show an exceptional-condition message after confirming that the live stream stopped. Check the broadcast from a separate device, not only the PRISM preview. Possible causes beyond the connection include device heat or processing limits, platform policy, and platform time limits; time-limit criteria vary by platform and can change. If YouTube shows the stream ended, review the platform’s notice or live-control status before changing PRISM settings.
Common failures and what to try next
| What you see | Next test |
|---|---|
| 57995 after a desktop YouTube stream starts | Test wired LAN, reduce competing network traffic, then check whether firewall or security settings are blocking PRISM. |
| 57998 before a stream connects | If you are in India or Indonesia, consider PRISM’s IPv4-only/network-optimization steps; otherwise check the connection and RTMP setup without assuming the regional workaround applies. |
| Stream stays live but dropped frames appear | Use the notice: network instability points to the connection; slow rendering to scene or computer load; poor encoding to encoder, FPS, bitrate, or hardware constraints. |
| Mobile stream loses connection or ends | Test a steadier network, lower resolution, restore Adaptive if disabled, check RTMP details and account permissions, and check for device heat. |
| PRISM remains open but YouTube is no longer live | Verify status from another device and inspect YouTube’s broadcast status or notice to determine whether the platform ended it. |
If these checks do not resolve the issue, update PRISM and contact PRISM Service Inquiry with the exact error, code, device/OS, app version, network type, and whether YouTube still showed the broadcast as live. Avoid changing several settings at once; otherwise it is harder to identify which change mattered.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream of uploaded video rather than a live camera or desktop session, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the loop running, so nothing has to stay on at home; it supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and Monthly is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded video; it does not stream from a camera. Start the free first day.
