Catherine was photographed travelling with William in a car on the way to the service, but she did not attend it. The distinction matters: reports of her being in the car did not mean she was present at the Westminster Abbey event.
Why news agencies withdrew the family photograph
On March 10, 2024, William and Catherine posted a photograph of Catherine with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis for Mother’s Day in Britain. Credited to William, it was the first official photograph of Catherine released by Kensington Palace since her January abdominal surgery.

Several picture agencies, including the Associated Press (AP) and Agence France-Presse (AFP), withdrew the image hours after it was published, citing concerns that it appeared manipulated. AP told ABC News that, on closer inspection, the image appeared to have been manipulated in a way that did not meet its photo standards. AP pointed to an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand. That was the agency’s stated concern; the precise editing process and any intent behind it were not independently established in the reports.
