Yes. Rotten Tomatoes’ nine-film Predator ranking guide, updated December 15, 2025, places Prey second at 94% and Predator: Badlands third at 86% on the Tomatometer—an eight-percentage-point difference. Separately, the live Badlands page showed a 94% audience Popcornmeter when accessed October 7, 2026.

Why Badlands also shows a 94% score
The live Rotten Tomatoes page for Predator: Badlands showed an 86% Tomatometer from 277 reviews and a 94% Popcornmeter from more than 5,000 verified ratings on October 7, 2026. Those scores measure different groups: the Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews, while the Popcornmeter reflects audience ratings. The audience figure does not change the film’s third-place position in the dated critics’ guide.
Rotten Tomatoes describes the 2025 film as a 1-hour-47-minute, PG-13 story about a young Predator outcast who finds an ally in Thia and seeks an ultimate adversary. Its page’s Critics Consensus reads: “Director Dan Trachtenberg continues to take the Predator franchise in exciting new directions with Badlands, a rollicking adventure that transforms one of cinema’s most iconic brutes into a hero worth rooting for.”

The scores give a ranking, not a definitive explanation for why reviewers rated the films differently. Rotten Tomatoes’ first-reviews roundup records varied reactions to Badlands’ spectacle, expanded world-building, humor, PG-13 rating, character dynamics, and departure from earlier franchise conventions. Those are reviewers’ observations, not proven causes of the score gap. Peter Debruge of Variety, for example, called it “the strongest film with ‘Predator’ in the title since the 1987 original.”
Rotten Tomatoes describes Prey as set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, and its critics consensus praises the film’s action and character development. That provides useful context for the comparison, but the Tomatometer alone does not establish why one film scored higher.

The Badlands film page is a live listing, and its score and review or rating counts can change. The 86% and 94% figures above are its displayed values on October 7, 2026, not a promise that a later visit will show the same numbers.
At the time of that page check, Rotten Tomatoes listed Badlands through Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions and for rental or purchase on Fandango. Availability can vary by region and change over time, so check the service listing where you watch.
