Michael Rainey Jr. did not reveal who Tariq was speaking to in the final phone call of Power Book II: Ghost, and he did not confirm that another Tariq series is coming. In a post-finale interview, he left the caller’s identity to fan theories, teased that “Power never ends,” and said he would return if fans wanted him to.
What did Michael Rainey Jr. say about Tariq after the finale?
In an interview with GQ published October 4, 2024, Rainey said Tariq had accepted his fate and grown into his father’s shoes. Asked about the final phone call, he said he did not know who Tariq was speaking to and encouraged fans to come up with their own theories. His brief tease was: “Power never ends.”

That line keeps the door open to possibilities; it does not identify the caller or announce a continuation. The closing scene remains unresolved based on Rainey’s comments.
Did Rainey confirm he would return as Tariq?
No. Rainey said he would return if fans wanted it and that he would answer if 50 Cent called. Those remarks express willingness, not confirmation that a new series, season, or appearance is in development. The finale’s open-ended phone call likewise is not evidence that a project has been greenlit.

Where does the finale fit in the series?
STARZ lists season four as the final season of Power Book II: Ghost. Its 10th episode, “Ghost in the Machine,” is described as “The epic conclusion to this chapter of Power.” STARZ lists the episode runtime as 1 hour, 1 minute. See the official STARZ series listing.
The wording “this chapter” leaves room for speculation about the broader franchise, but the official listing establishes the end of this series, not a future Tariq project.

Rainey’s comments about possible future roles concern his acting career, not Tariq’s fictional story. In an Associated Press interview published June 7, 2024, he called the series ending “bittersweet” and said he was excited about what came next for the cast. He also said he wanted to show audiences a different side of his acting, mentioning interest in a romantic comedy or playing a nerd. Read the Associated Press interview.
