Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review shows how the year’s viral language and pop-culture events—demure, tradwives, Mormon wives, workplace fantasies, the Olympics, and Hawk Tuah—entered adult-platform searches. But the report’s deeper story is continuity: hentai, MILF, lesbian, anal, Japanese, and anime remained among the platform’s strongest global terms.
These are Pornhub’s search and audience statistics, not a scientific survey of sexual preferences or a record of offline conduct.
Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review is less evidence of a sudden change in sexual preferences than a record of how 2024’s internet culture, television, sports, and viral language were absorbed into an established adult-platform search ecosystem. The biggest growth stories included demure, mindfulness, tradwife and Mormon-wife labels, workplace fantasies, Olympic terms, and animation. Yet the most searched terms still included long-running leaders such as hentai, MILF, lesbian, anal, Japanese, and anime.
That distinction matters. The report measures searches, categories, traffic patterns, and platform-reported audience estimates—not verified sexual behavior, offline relationships, religious identity, workplace conduct, or the preferences of the public as a whole.

Source note: The figures below are attributed to Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review. Because the platform’s public materials do not provide a complete methodology or independent audit, percentages are presented as the site reported them.
The headline story: demure and mindful language went viral
Pornhub reported that searches for demure rose 133% in 2024. The report also recorded increases of 112% for mindful pleasure, 87% for mindful JOI, and 77% for modesty. The related label modest milf rose 45%.
These terms were widely associated with Jools Lebron’s viral TikTok phrase, very demure, very mindful. That provides a plausible cultural explanation for why the language appeared in searches, but it does not prove that the TikTok trend caused the increases. Pornhub’s figures show a temporal and linguistic association, not a controlled causal relationship.
In this context, JOI means jerk-off instructions, an adult-content label describing instructional material. It is useful to define the acronym once because it is unfamiliar to many general readers; there is no need to repeat explicit search phrases throughout an article about the report.
The larger point is that adult-platform search terms can act like cultural keywords. A phrase may be used literally, ironically, as a fantasy label, because it is prominent in recommendations, or simply because a user encountered it elsewhere. A rising term does not reveal which of those motivations was operating.
Tradwives, wives, and Mormon-related searches
The report connected rising wife-related searches to the wider tradwife conversation and to the reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Pornhub reported the following year-over-year increases:
| Search label | Reported increase |
|---|---|
| Amateur wife | 21% |
| Traditional wife | 34% |
| Tradwife | 72% |
| Mormon wife | 71% |
| Mormon sex | 92% |
| Mormon missionary | 68% |
| Mormon threesome | 122% |
These labels should not be read as a demographic survey. Tradwife can refer to a social-media identity, an aesthetic, a political or cultural conversation, a fantasy category, or a search term encountered through online recommendations. Similarly, a Mormon-related query may reflect curiosity, parody, entertainment coverage, fantasy, or algorithmic discovery. The data does not establish that searchers belonged to the tradwife movement, identified as Mormon, or shared the beliefs associated with either label.
The television connection is therefore best understood as context rather than proof. Pornhub attributed or associated the rise with the surrounding cultural conversation, but the public report does not demonstrate that the show alone produced the increase. Multiple influences—including social-media discussion, search-term novelty, media coverage, and changes in the site’s taxonomy—could have contributed.

Workplace-related searches formed another prominent cultural cluster. Pornhub reported that coworker searches increased 92%, while workplace fantasy rose 57% and the more explicit label fucking coworker rose 69%. Another summary of the report listed sex in the office up 31% and workplace orgy up 19%.
Commentary around these figures linked them to employees returning to offices after years of remote or hybrid work. That interpretation is plausible, but it remains an explanation supplied by the platform or commentators—not a finding from a study of office behavior.
Search interest in a workplace fantasy does not show that people had relationships with coworkers, that workplace misconduct increased, or that offices became more sexually active. It shows that certain workplace labels were searched more often on one adult platform. The distinction between a fantasy category and an incident statistic is especially important here.
Animation remained both a stable leader and a growth category
Animation was not merely a short-lived 2024 trend. Pornhub reported that hentai was the world’s most searched term for the fourth consecutive year. Anime moved up four positions to seventh in the global search ranking.

Adjacent animation terms also grew. The report summaries recorded increases of 28% for animation, 78% for realistic animated, 23% for gay animated, and 19% for 3D-animation searches.
This combination—an established leader alongside growth in related labels—suggests continuity more than a complete reshuffling of the platform’s audience. It also should not be generalized to anime fandom, animation viewers in general, or the wider animation industry. These figures describe searches and categories on Pornhub, whose taxonomy and audience are distinct from mainstream entertainment audiences.
Olympics, viral phrases, and short-term cultural spikes
The 2024 Olympic Games supplied another set of event-driven search spikes. Pornhub reported increases of 88% for athlete, 79% for gymnastics, 101% for swimmer, and 165% for volleyball. Among Olympics-related searches, sex Olympics and nude Olympics were identified as leading terms.
The numbers illustrate how quickly a major public event can influence an adult platform’s vocabulary. They do not show that Olympic athletes or spectators engaged in the conduct implied by the labels, nor do they establish a lasting shift in sexual interests. A search may be prompted by news coverage, a meme, a prominent athlete, curiosity, or the visibility of a new phrase.
The report also said that Hawk Tuah generated approximately 10 million searches. The related explicit phrase spit on dick rose 233%. Those figures are best treated as an example of viral-culture spillover: a phrase that became widely recognizable online was also used as an adult-platform search term. Search volume is not the same as broad social adoption or evidence of actual behavior.
The global rankings show more continuity than disruption
Pornhub’s reported global top search terms were:
- Hentai
- MILF
- Pinay
- Lesbian
- Anal
- Big ass
- Anime
- Japanese
- Latina
- Asian
The list places the viral 2024 terms in perspective. Demure, tradwife, workplace, Olympic, and meme-related searches drew attention because they grew quickly, but they did not displace the platform’s most established search vocabulary. The ranking also reflects Pornhub’s own categories, user base, search habits, recommendation systems, and availability—not a universal ranking of sexual interests.
Other notable climbers included animation, real amateur, teacher, cosplay, and wife. Pornhub separately reported that its most popular categories were:
- MILF
- Anal
- Japanese
- Lesbian
- Mature
- Ebony
- Transgender
- Threesome
- Hentai
- Amateur
The report also identified Angela White as the most searched performer. Some secondary presentations of the Year in Review mixed search rankings with performer-view totals, so those measures should not be treated as interchangeable. A performer can rank highly in searches without the same ranking necessarily applying to total viewing time or views.
Who used the platform, and how?
Pornhub’s demographic and device figures add context, but they are platform estimates rather than population-level measurements of pornography use.
- The report summary said that 38% of Pornhub users were female in 2024, an increase from 2023.
- In the United States, users were reported as 71% male.
- The Philippines was reported as 59% female.
- More than 90% of traffic reportedly came through phones.
- Users aged 18–24 were described as 392% more likely than other age groups to watch vertical video.
- A related summary said younger users spent less time on the site and that vertical-video use was especially pronounced among the youngest adult cohort.
The age distinction is important. The 18–24 group is an adult cohort, even though the broader term Gen Z can include people younger than 18 in ordinary demographic definitions. The platform’s adult-age comparison should not be rewritten to imply that minors were part of the reported viewing group.
The mobile figures also help explain why vertical video appeared in the report. Phone-first viewing makes short, portrait-oriented formats easier to discover and consume, especially among younger adults. But the reported 392% comparison should be read as Pornhub’s wording; the public summary does not provide enough methodological detail to evaluate the denominator, sample construction, or exact viewing counts behind it.
Geography is shaped by access as well as preference
The United States remained Pornhub’s largest traffic source by country, with France and the Philippines among the next leading markets in the reported rankings. One summary said the top 20 countries accounted for 79.2% of daily traffic.

Pornhub’s U.S. map also displayed state-level highlights based on relative search interest. That is not the same as an absolute ranking of total searches in every state. A state can over-index on a term while contributing less total traffic than a larger state.
Availability is an additional complication. The report appeared during a period when Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo, had blocked access in some U.S. states in response to age-verification requirements. Consequently, a decline, omission, or unusual result for a state may reflect whether and how residents could access the platform—not simply a change in local preference.
This is a general problem with geographic comparisons of online platforms: the measured audience is partly created by access rules, device availability, local regulations, and the platform’s own operating decisions. Year-over-year changes are difficult to interpret if the population able to use the service changed during the comparison period.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the report can—and cannot—tell us
The Year in Review is a proprietary platform report built from selected search, category, traffic, device, and demographic findings. The publicly available materials do not provide a complete methodology for every metric. In particular, they do not supply denominator definitions for every percentage, confidence intervals, raw query counts for all terms, or an independent audit of the calculations.
That does not make the report useless. It makes it a cultural snapshot rather than a scientific survey. It is well suited to showing which phrases became visible or grew within Pornhub’s ecosystem. It is not sufficient for estimating the sexual preferences of a country, measuring real-world conduct, or proving why a search trend occurred.
Several limitations should guide interpretation:
- Platform-selection bias: Pornhub users are not a random sample of adults, and the platform’s audience may differ from users of other services or from people who do not use adult websites.
- Access effects: Age-verification rules, state-level blocks, local censorship, and changes in availability can alter who appears in the data.
- Search ambiguity: A term can be literal, ironic, curious, fictional, fetish-oriented, media-driven, or entered because it appeared in a recommendation.
- Repeat users: Traffic and searches may reflect repeated activity by the same users rather than an equivalent number of unique people.
- Changing taxonomy: Categories, tags, recommendations, and search suggestions can change what users see and what terms become easy to enter.
- Media attention: A news story, television series, meme, or viral video can increase searches without creating a durable preference.
- Search versus behavior: Looking for a phrase does not establish that someone watched the resulting material, wanted the scenario offline, or acted on it.
These limitations are why the most accurate language is according to Pornhub, Pornhub reported, or the site’s search data showed. Phrases such as people wanted, Americans became, society preferred, or workers engaged in should not be substituted for what the data actually measures.
The clearest reading of Pornhub’s 2024 report
Three patterns stand out. First, internet language travels quickly: demure, mindful, tradwife, Mormon-wife, Olympic, and viral-meme terms appeared in adult searches soon after becoming prominent in mainstream online culture. Second, entertainment and current events can create sharp, temporary spikes. Third, those spikes sat on top of a more durable platform hierarchy led by hentai, MILF, lesbian, anal, Japanese, anime, and other established labels.
In other words, 2024 did not replace Pornhub’s longstanding search habits with a completely new set of interests. It added the year’s cultural vocabulary to them. The report is most revealing when read as a study of how platforms recode public language—and least revealing when treated as a direct survey of what people believe, practice, or want away from the screen.

What does Pornhub’s Year in Review actually measure?
It is a platform-specific snapshot of searches, category rankings, traffic, devices, and audience estimates. It is not a representative survey of sexual preferences or verified evidence of offline behavior.
Does the rise in demure searches prove that TikTok caused it?
No. Pornhub reported a 133% rise in demure searches and associated the trend with the viral very demure, very mindful phrase, but the report does not establish that the phrase caused the increase.
Do the tradwife and Mormon figures measure religious or political identity?
No. Tradwife and Mormon-related searches may reflect fantasy, curiosity, parody, media attention, recommendation systems, or personal identity. The figures do not show that searchers belonged to those communities or shared their beliefs.
How reliable are the percentages in the report?
They can be useful for identifying cultural keywords and platform trends, but they have important limits. Pornhub does not publicly provide a complete methodology, every denominator, confidence intervals, all raw query counts, or an independent audit of the figures.

Bottom line: Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review captures the collision of viral culture with persistent adult-platform search patterns. Demure, tradwife, workplace, Olympic, and meme-related terms grew sharply, but the global leaders remained familiar. The figures describe Pornhub’s searches and audience—not society’s sexual behavior—and access changes and missing methodological details make broad conclusions unsafe.
