María León has spoken publicly about two separate breakups, so the answer depends on which ex the question means. In the breakup with Gabriel Navarro, which she discussed in 2018, Navarro ended a five-year relationship, and León said she did not know why. In the later separation from Allen Genkin, reported in November 2025 and February 2026, León pointed to distance and demanding work schedules.
Which ex the question refers to
The two relationships are easy to confuse, because both ended with León describing the separation in personal terms. They differ in partner, length, and what León herself said was the reason.

The breakup with Gabriel Navarro (2018)
León told People en Español and TVyNovelas in 2018 that Navarro was the one who ended their five-year relationship. Her account of the reason is limited to what she did not know.

In substance: it was so strange, she said, because she never learned why he ended it. She added that it did not matter, and that he may have let things get out of hand. Elsewhere in the same coverage she said, in her words as quoted by People en Español: “Me dejaron a mí. Es la primera vez que me dejan en mi vida.” (“They left me. It is the first time in my life someone has left me.”)

She first wondered what she had done wrong, and later said she understood the decision was not necessarily about her.
What is not established
- The reason for the breakup. León said she did not know it. Her remarks about possible communication problems were her own speculation, not a confirmed account from Navarro.
- Another person. The coverage does not establish infidelity or a third party. León said she would have preferred a direct explanation, but that is a statement about what she wanted, not a documented cause.
The album connection
The 2018 coverage says the breakup inspired songs on her solo album Inquebrantable. That is the only documented link between this relationship and her work.

The separation from Allen Genkin (2025–2026)
Later reporting concerns a different relationship. In November 2025, Infobae México reported that León announced a breakup with Allen Genkin, a choreographer on the Mexican dance competition Mira Quién Baila, after more than two years together. She told the outlet she was grieving, and that the relationship had ended amid distance and demanding work schedules.
What León said about the separation
In February 2026, Infobae México reported that she explained the separation again. Her words, in the outlet’s quotation, were: “Siento que la distancia nos jugó duro… nos amamos mucho todavía, pero en ese momento el amor no fue suficiente.” (“I feel the distance played hard on us… we still love each other a lot, but at that moment love was not enough.”)

She also described the relationship as amicable in her earlier remarks about it: “No hay nada malo con la relación: somos amigos, estamos al pendiente, nos escribimos.” (“There is nothing wrong with the relationship: we are friends, we check on each other, we write to each other.”)
What does not carry over
The distance and work-schedule explanation belongs to the Genkin separation only. It is not an explanation for the Navarro breakup, and León has not tied the two together.

Her current status
A later report from Las Estrellas and TelevisaUnivision, published after the Genkin separation and headlined that León had left being single behind, says she gave another chance to love. A reader asking about her status today should therefore not assume she is single, even though the 2018 and 2025 coverage describe her as single at the time of each breakup.
