Some vivid details come from a review rather than Nanjiani’s own description: The Daily Beast’s Season 2 review says Gator Joe has a pet crocodile named Daisy, uses the catchphrase “Gator done!” and promotes an energy drink. Those are review-reported character details, not evidence that the character has a real TikTok presence.

The Los Angeles Times describes Gator Joe as a Florida cop who wins police honors until a jealous colleague decides to end his run. Episode-specific reporting identifies that colleague as Gaby Hoffmann’s character. But neither that account nor Peacock’s synopsis recounts the complete ending or verifies Gator Joe’s precise final fate. So the supported answer to “what happened?” is that he becomes the target of a colleague’s jealousy amid the awards-ceremony story; whether he survives or how his story concludes is not established by those accounts.

Gator Joe’s accent and appearance are central to the character’s deliberately outsized persona. Nanjiani told the Los Angeles Times that he hired a dialect coach with six days before shooting to work on the Florida Panhandle accent, and said the tattoos helped him feel and look like a different person. He summed up the role’s heightened premise this way: “The idea of a Pakistani guy being a Florida cop who speaks with that accent, has tattoos and a frosted-tip mullet only makes sense in ‘Poker Face’ world.” Read the Los Angeles Times feature for the interview and episode context.
