The reported timeskip in Pokémon Horizons ages its newer protagonists, Liko, Roy, and Dot. It does not establish that Ash Ketchum is aging or that the change affects him. A June 2026 season report says Ash does not appear in Horizons Season 3, and the sources available do not confirm whether he will return or how the series’ continuity relates to his story.
Who the reported timeskip affects
A March 15, 2025 report by The Telegraph (India) described a promotional visual for Pokémon Horizons: The Series’ Mega Voltage arc that showed Liko, Roy, and Dot as teenagers. The report framed their growth as something Ash had not done during the preceding series.
The report also quoted a Crunchyroll description: “A new chapter is on the horizon for the Pokémon anime series! Pokémon Horizons has announced that its next chapter will be subtitled Mega Voltage. And its stars are about to do something even Ash Ketchum never did: grow up.” The reference to Ash is a contrast with the Horizons cast; it is not an announcement that Ash is part of the timeskip.
What the timeskip means for Ash
The Telegraph report says Ash remained 10 for 26 seasons of the earlier show. That is historical context from the 2025 report, not evidence of a new storyline changing his age. No official statement in the available sources says Ash is affected by the Mega Voltage timeskip.

Current-season coverage from IndiaTimes, published June 25, 2026, says Ash does not appear in Horizons Season 3. It describes the season’s story as taking place one year after events at Laqua. That interval belongs to the reported Horizons plot; it does not establish that Ash has aged by a year.

The available coverage does not settle whether Pokémon Horizons shares a continuity with Ash’s adventures, is a prequel, or connects to them in another way. Fan posts illustrate the questions viewers have raised, but do not answer them: a July 2025 community post asks how the timeskip fits with Ash being “forever 10,” while a September 2025 post asks whether Horizons could be a prequel in the same universe. Those are fan theories and questions, not canon statements.
