Christina Aguilera’s best-documented early public photos begin with her 1999 debut-album promotion and award-show appearances, then trace performances and events associated with releases such as Stripped and Back to Basics. This caption-led selection follows dated images from 1999 through 2011; it is not a complete archive or a year-by-year record through the present.
How to read this photo timeline
Each entry anchors a photograph to a date or year, an event or setting, and the career context established by its source. Styling observations should describe what is visibly in the licensed image, not stand in for claims about Aguilera’s health, personal life, motives, or a definitive transformation. The dated galleries cited here help establish chronology, but they do not establish image reuse rights; use authorized images and preserve the exact photographer and agency credits supplied with them.

1999: debut promotion and first major photo cluster
August 24 — The Wherehouse, Beverly Hills
CBS dates Aguilera’s appearance promoting her first CD at The Wherehouse in Beverly Hills to August 24, 1999, the same date CBS gives for the release of her self-titled debut album. The AJC also captions a Wherehouse image, making this one of the clearest documented settings from her breakthrough year. CBS News photo timeline · AJC photo gallery
September 9 — MTV Video Music Awards
CBS dates another 1999 appearance to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 9. The AJC’s gallery adds captions for other appearances that year, including the American Teacher Awards and Billboard Music Awards. Together, these dated images make 1999 the strongest early-career cluster in the galleries—not a complete record of every look or appearance from that year.

2000–2001: performances and collaboration
2000 — Award-show and broadcast appearances
CBS captions photographs from the Super Bowl XXXIV halftime performance with Enrique Iglesias, the MTV Video Music Awards, and a Latin Grammy broadcast appearance. The AJC offers further dated award-show captions from 2000. When publishing any of these images, use the source’s exact event caption and image credit rather than treating one appearance as representative of the whole year.
2001 — “Lady Marmalade” performance
CBS identifies a 2001 performance of “Lady Marmalade” with Pink, Lil’ Kim, and Mýa; the AJC also has dated 2001 award-show images. The Los Angeles Times later included the collaboration in a retrospective gallery about Aguilera’s career. These images document a specific collaborative performance and its public setting. 2002–2004: Stripped and a Grammy moment
2002–2003 — The Stripped period
CBS describes the 2002 release of Stripped as marking a transition from teen-pop star to adult performer. A Los Angeles Times caption documents Aguilera’s 2003 MTV Video Music Awards performance with Madonna and Britney Spears. Treat that description as the publication’s framing of a release era, not as a conclusion that a single photograph proves a wholesale change in appearance or identity.
February 2004 — Grammy Award
CBS captions Aguilera holding her Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in February 2004 and identifies “Beautiful” as the award-winning song. The caption supplies an event and career milestone that can accompany the photograph without needing to infer a broader meaning from her appearance.
Rank #3
2006–2007: the Back to Basics era
2006 — MTV Video Music Awards
CBS captions a 2006 MTV Video Music Awards performance and reports that Aguilera described Back to Basics as a throwback to the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s. The Los Angeles Times likewise connects the period with old-Hollywood styling and jazz-influenced sound. That context helps explain the era’s deliberate retro concept; it should not be mistaken for a precise account of Aguilera’s biography or for a claim that every photograph from the period looks alike.
2007 — Grammy appearance
CBS also includes a 2007 Grammy appearance. Pair a specific image with its own date, event, and credit; the album’s retro inspiration is useful context, but does not by itself establish that the photograph was taken for or represents a particular release.
2008–2011: later dated public appearances
CBS’s timeline continues with images from 2008 and 2010 and a photograph from the 2011 Super Bowl, where Aguilera sang the national anthem. These are documented public appearances, not necessarily album-era portraits. For each image, retain the event date and photo credit in its caption so readers can distinguish a performance, award show, or other setting.

The available dated galleries support a useful visual chronology from the 1999 debut-promotion cluster through selected appearances in 2011. They do not provide an evenly documented sequence for every year, or a comprehensive archive through 2026. The photographs can be placed alongside releases and events, but they are not a measured study of appearance or public image. A separate, correctly verified and credited image would be needed to illustrate Aguilera’s 1993–1994 appearances on The Mickey Mouse Club, which CBS notes in its retrospective.

Best Value
For career context beyond the dated photo captions, Aguilera’s official biography says she has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and lists seven Grammy Awards, including two Latin Grammy Awards. Those are claims published by her official site, not independently audited figures in the photo galleries. Christina Aguilera’s official website
