The Perth Royal Show’s opening day was Saturday, 26 September 2026, at Claremont Showground. The official schedule advertised sheep-shearing demonstrations and competition from 10am to 6pm, alongside free woodchopping events from 11am to 5pm. The showbag sites appeared on the event’s map, but the available information does not establish which bags were on sale, their prices or what visitors bought.
What was scheduled for opening day
The 2026 show ran from 26 September to 3 October at Claremont Showground, 1 Graylands Road, Claremont, Western Australia. The official Saturday 26 September schedule listed two central attractions:
| Activity | Location | Advertised time | Admission in listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheep shearing demonstrations and competition, with sheep breeds on display | Sheep Shed | 10am–6pm | Free |
| Championship woodchopping events | Woodchop Arena | 11am–5pm | Free |
These are the times and activities published by the organizer, not an independent confirmation that every event ran as scheduled. No competition results or winners are established in the available information.
Sheep shearing in the Sheep Shed
The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia advertised shearing demonstrations and competition throughout the day, with sheep breeds on display. Its description promised “speed, skill and plenty of action” in the Sheep Shed; that is organizer wording, rather than a quotation from a named participant. The shearing and woolhandling page describes the activity across Show week.

Woodchopping in the arena

Showbag shopping: what is and isn’t verified
The event’s media guide identifies showbag sites on its showground map, making shopping part of the advertised visitor experience. However, the available sources do not confirm specific bags sold on opening day, their contents or prices, their stock levels, or any visitor’s purchase. A retailer listing for Perth showbags does not establish which products were physically available at the show.

The 2026 media guide gave general show opening hours as 10am until late. Individual attractions had their own published schedules, so the daily program—not the general gate hours—is the relevant guide for activity timing. The organizer’s event information described an app with an interactive map, saved favourites and live updates about show times, weather and alerts. These are features described for the 2026 visitor information, not confirmed details for a future show.
