Pedro Sampaio revealed the cover of ASTRO on August 29, 2024. The image turns a broken streetlamp into a symbol of inner light: Sampaio appears above it, seemingly glowing, while exposed wiring and a kite tail add details to the scene. The album was scheduled to arrive on music platforms on September 4, 2024.
What the ASTRO cover represents
Sampaio described the album’s concept as an exchange of light between people. He said he wanted the cover to show that people carry their own brightness, regardless of external illumination. The announcement’s image, photographed by Juliana Rocha, pairs that idea with a damaged streetlamp: Sampaio is positioned above it and appears to emit light, with exposed wiring and a kite tail among the other visible elements. POPline reported the reveal and the artist’s explanation on August 29, 2024.
Creative director Luciano Schmitz said the concept developed through ideas of transformation and maturation before arriving at light and stars. The album’s accompanying press release framed ASTRO as a personal and professional turning point and a more mature work; that is the release’s description, rather than an independent assessment of the music.
When did ASTRO come out?
At the time of the cover announcement, ASTRO was scheduled for music platforms on September 4, 2024. That is the date given in contemporaneous announcement coverage. Streaming catalog entries also list the album, but their dates and durations differ; those discrepancies do not establish a separate release or reissue history.

Why the album was presented as a visual album
ASTRO has 15 tracks and was presented as a visual album, with a distinct narrative and visualizer for each song. In a September 3, 2024 report, gshow quoted Sampaio explaining that he wanted to tell a story for every track and used the visualizers to give each one a specific narrative and strong visual identity. gshow covered the album and its visualizers. Apple Music’s catalog lists a 15-song edition dated September 4, 2024. Spotify also lists 15 tracks, although its displayed metadata differs from Apple Music’s. Apple Music’s ASTRO listing and Spotify’s ASTRO listing provide platform-specific catalog details; they do not explain the metadata differences.
