Caleb and Cody Walker are Paul Walker’s brothers. After Paul died while Fast & Furious 7 was in production, they helped the filmmakers complete some remaining scenes as stand-ins and body doubles. They did not replace Paul as the film’s actor: the production used digital effects to incorporate his face into some of their performances.

Who are Caleb and Cody Walker?

Caleb and Cody Walker are the brothers of actor Paul Walker, best known for playing Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious films. The brothers became associated with the seventh film because they helped finish portions of it after Paul’s death in 2013.

What did they do in Fast & Furious 7?

In April 2014, CBS News reported that Caleb and Cody were working as stand-ins and body doubles for scenes featuring Paul. The film’s official statement, as reported at the time, said the brothers were helping complete remaining action and fill small production gaps. It also said Paul had already filmed his dramatic scenes and most of the action. CBS News reported on the brothers’ work as production resumed after a temporary halt.

The brothers’ performances were only part of the solution. ITV News reported in 2018 that Paul’s face was digitally superimposed onto his brothers in some scenes that had not yet been filmed, and that digital work was also used in a modified ending. The finished role remained Paul’s: Caleb and Cody helped the production complete scenes, rather than independently playing Brian O’Conner throughout the film.

How did the brothers describe the experience?

In an Entertainment Tonight interview published in September 2016, Caleb said the experience helped him understand his brother better: “We got to understand more about Paul, and what he was all about.” He also described the work as a source of closure for the family. Entertainment Tonight published Caleb’s comments about the film and the brothers’ experience.

Cody spoke about the emotional difficulty of seeing the completed film in a People interview republished by TIME in April 2015. “It’s bittersweet, but I think Paul would be proud,” he said. The film’s premiere included a tribute to Paul from his family and castmates. TIME republished Cody’s interview.

Did Caleb or Cody return to the franchise?

In ITV News’s 2018 report, Caleb said he hoped Paul’s character might appear in a carefully handled cameo, while Cody stressed that any return would need to respect the character. “It would have to be tasteful,” Cody said. Those were the brothers’ views at the time, not confirmation of a planned appearance or later casting. The report also said revisiting the full film remained difficult for both brothers. ITV News covered their comments.

What about the brothers’ charitable work?

Entertainment Tonight’s 2016 interview also discussed the family’s support for Reach Out WorldWide, the disaster-relief nonprofit Paul founded. ET reported then that Cody had taken over running the charity with his wife. That is a dated account of the family’s connection and should not be taken as a description of Cody’s current role or the organization’s present activities.
