What reason did Simon’s team give?
In a statement published June 28, 2025, on Simon’s official site, his team said: “Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention.” This is the public explanation from his team, not an independently established diagnosis.
The statement said a minor surgical procedure was scheduled for the next few days. It did not identify the procedure or explain the cause of the back pain, so neither a specific diagnosis nor a recovery timeline can be inferred from the announcement.

Can the canceled dates be rescheduled?
At the time of the announcement, the statement said the concerts could not be rescheduled: “Unfortunately we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don’t have the ability to reschedule them.” It also expressed hope that Simon could complete the tour and potentially return to make up the dates. That was a statement of hope, not confirmation of replacement dates.
