Paul McCartney welcomed Ringo Starr onstage at London’s O2 on December 19, 2024, during the finale of his Got Back tour. Starr joined McCartney’s band on drums for two songs: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” Their previous reported onstage appearance together was in 2019, making the gap roughly five years—not exactly five calendar years.
When and where did McCartney and Starr perform together?
The reunion took place at London’s O2 on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the finale of McCartney’s 2024 Got Back tour. McCartney introduced Starr as “the mighty, the one and only, Ringo Starr!” according to the official tour account. ITV News reported that 20,000 fans attended; that is ITV’s reported figure, not an independently verified venue count.
What songs did they play?
Starr sat in with McCartney’s band on drums for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” ITV reported that Starr told the audience after performing, “I’ve had a great night and I love you all,” and thanked McCartney.
Why is it described as a reunion after five years?
McCartney and Starr had performed together during McCartney’s 2019 Freshen Up tour. The Los Angeles Times identifies the earlier appearance as McCartney’s 2019 Dodger Stadium show, where Starr also joined him for the same two songs. The interval to the December 2024 O2 performance was about five years; the phrase is approximate.

Was this a Beatles reunion tour?
No. Starr made a surprise guest appearance during McCartney’s solo tour finale. The sources describe a brief shared performance, not a Beatles reunion tour.
How does the 2024 stage appearance differ from their later duet?
The O2 performance was live, with Starr playing drums alongside McCartney’s band. In 2026, McCartney and Starr shared vocals on “Home to Us,” a studio track on McCartney’s album The Boys of Dungeon Lane. Universal Music Canada announced the track on May 8, 2026, describing it as the pair’s first-ever duet and saying it grew from a drum track Starr recorded for the album with producer Andrew Watt (Universal Music Canada). In an NME interview, McCartney likewise described it as the first time they had shared a vocal. That later studio collaboration is separate from the 2024 concert appearance.
