Patricia Fuenmayor, a Venezuelan journalist and former Miss Sudamérica, died on June 9, 2025, at age 51. Reports say she died after a battle with cancer, though they do not consistently identify the type.
What did Patricia Fuenmayor die of?
Multiple reports say Fuenmayor died after a cancer battle. Cooperativa.cl reported that her Univision colleagues described it as aggressive breast cancer; N+ and Diario Libre reported cancer without specifying a type. The more specific description is therefore attributable to those colleagues, rather than a detail consistently reported across coverage.

Who was Patricia Fuenmayor?
Fuenmayor was a Venezuelan journalist and television correspondent. N+ reported that she worked as a New York correspondent for Univision’s Despierta América; Diario Libre said she had held that role since 2017.
Her pageant career
Fuenmayor represented Zulia in Miss Venezuela in 1997 and was a finalist. She won Miss Sudamérica in 1998. The reports establish her as a former beauty queen, but do not support a more precise placement in Miss Venezuela.
