Pathologic 3 was initially announced for a 2025 release, but it ultimately launched on January 9, 2026. The psychological horror game stars Daniil Dankovsky—the Bachelor—and follows his effort to understand a plague and save a remote town before time runs out.
What happened to the 2025 release date?
The 2025 date was the game’s announced release window, not its eventual launch date. In a Steam news roundup posted October 21, 2025, developer Ice-Pick Lodge announced, “Pathologic 3 launches on January 9, 2026.” The official Steam listing also gives January 9, 2026 as the release date. Ice-Pick Lodge’s announcement and the Steam product page establish the shift from the earlier window to the confirmed date.
Who is the Bachelor?
Players take the role of Daniil Dankovsky, a physician and researcher known as the Bachelor. He travels to a remote town on the eastern steppe in search of a man reputed to be immortal. An epidemic breaks out, the man is dead, and Dankovsky is left with 12 days to try to save the town. The story’s central problem is not simply finding a cure: the player must reconsider earlier choices and attempt to change how events unfold.
What do you do in Pathologic 3?
The official store description presents a mix of medical investigation, public-health decisions, and narrative choices. Rather than treating the plague as a backdrop for conventional action, the game makes the Bachelor’s work and the consequences of his decisions central to play.
#1 Best Overall
Examine patients and investigate the disease
Dankovsky meets patients face-to-face, studies their symptoms and accounts, and decides what their testimony does—or does not—reveal. Diagnosis leads toward the attempt to develop a vaccine. The emphasis is on interpreting people and evidence, not just collecting supplies or fighting enemies.
Govern the town during the outbreak
The Bachelor can impose measures such as quarantines and curfews, order vaccination, confiscate medicine, organize patrols, or suppress riots. These policies affect people and can carry consequences; the store description also says mistakes may unlock decrees. The player’s authority is therefore part of the dilemma: measures meant to control contagion can also impose costs on the town.

Rewind time and revisit choices
Time rewinding lets players return to earlier points and alter decisions within a branching narrative. It is a way to confront failure and explore changed outcomes, rather than a separate action-game premise. The official description also connects the Bachelor’s mental state to how he acts and interprets events: apathy or mania may bring insight, or lead to death.
