In coverage of the news, Sony Pictures Television executive vice president Suzanne Prete called his service 40 years, saying he had entertained viewers “for 40 amazing years.” That was the company’s description at the time of the 2023 announcement; the Associated Press later described his completed tenure as 41 years.
