Initial reports said the cause was under investigation. On May 23, later reporting said police had received a National Forensic Service result identifying acute alcohol intoxication as the cause. That reported finding came weeks after the first accounts and should not be confused with the uncertainty reported on April 12.

What was reported about the cause of death
April 12: investigation ongoing
In the first reports, police said the cause of death was still being investigated and that they had requested an autopsy. Yonhap reported that police found no indication of foul play or suicide at that stage. CNA’s April 12 coverage likewise described the cause as under investigation. CNA’s report reflects the information available at the time.
April 15: agency statement on the autopsy
Xanadu Entertainment said an autopsy had been performed and showed no signs of homicide or suicide; the exact results would be delivered to Park’s family later. The agency also asked the public not to circulate rumors or speculative reports. Its statement, reproduced by Soompi, said: “We would appreciate it if you could pray for the late Park Bo Ram, who never let go of her passion for music and nurtured her dream, so that she can rest comfortably in a warm place.”

May 23: later reporting on the final result
The Korea Times reported on May 23 that police had received the final National Forensic Service result, which identified acute alcohol intoxication as the cause of death. The report also mentioned pre-existing liver conditions, but the available reporting does not establish further medical conclusions about their role. The autopsy document itself is not reproduced in the report, so the finding is best described as the result reported by The Korea Times. The Korea Times report provides this later update.
