“Paramount+ with SHOWTIME” is no longer the name of Paramount+’s top subscription tier in the United States. It is now called Paramount+ Premium, and SHOWTIME programming remains included in that tier. The name change was reported as taking effect June 23, 2025; it did not mean SHOWTIME content was removed.
What happened to Paramount+ with SHOWTIME?
Paramount changed the name of its combined premium tier to Paramount+ Premium. The current U.S. signup page uses that name and says the plan includes all of SHOWTIME. The reported rename date is June 23, 2025, according to Kiplinger’s June 27, 2025 report.

The change followed the integration of SHOWTIME into Paramount+. On June 27, 2023, Paramount announced that the “Paramount+ with SHOWTIME” plan had launched, describing Paramount+ as SHOWTIME’s new streaming home. That announcement also called the combined offering the former Paramount+ Premium plan—a reminder that Paramount has used “Premium” for more than one plan configuration over time. Paramount’s U.S. signup page currently lists these monthly prices and features. Plans, prices, and included content can change, so check the current plan page before subscribing.

The plan page also says subscribers can stream on up to three devices at once. It advertises “40,000+ episodes & movies”; that is Paramount’s own catalog figure, not an independently audited count.
What “all of SHOWTIME” and “no ads” mean
SHOWTIME availability
Premium lists all SHOWTIME, while Essential includes only select SHOWTIME series, and those selections may not contain every episode. If access to the full SHOWTIME offering is the reason you are considering the upgrade, Premium is the tier that lists it.

Ads and live TV
Premium is not completely ad-free: Paramount’s page specifies “No ads except live TV.” The live CBS stream is part of Premium, but live programming can include advertising.
Video quality and downloads
Premium’s 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 support applies only to select titles and depends on your internet service and device. Downloads are included, but restrictions apply; the plan page does not make them unrestricted.

Which plan should you choose?
- Choose Essential if its lower displayed monthly price and ad-supported viewing suit you, and select SHOWTIME series are enough.
- Choose Premium if you want all SHOWTIME, downloads, and the live CBS stream, or prefer fewer ads in on-demand viewing while understanding that live TV still has ads.
There is no universal value winner: the difference is whether Premium’s additional access and features matter to your viewing. Check Paramount’s current plan page for the latest price and feature details before deciding.

Paramount’s former plan name joined the Paramount+ and SHOWTIME brands in one subscription label. The newer name emphasizes Paramount+ instead, but the service’s current plan description still identifies SHOWTIME as part of Premium. A question in the SHOWTIME Help Center reflects the transition-era uncertainty: the name of a subscription tier and the availability of a content brand are separate questions.
