Paramount+ raised the monthly price of both U.S. direct subscription plans by $1 for new subscribers on January 15, 2026. Essential is now reported at $8.99 per month or $89.99 per year; Premium is $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year. The change applies to the two U.S. plans covered here—not necessarily to every region, bundle, promotion, legacy plan, or existing subscriber.

When did the price increase take effect?
The increase took effect January 15, 2026, for new U.S. subscribers, according to Tom’s Guide. The report does not establish a universal renewal date for existing customers. If you already subscribe, check your account or renewal notice for the price and date that apply to your billing.

How do the annual plans compare with monthly billing?
At the reported rates, paying for 12 months at the regular monthly price would cost $107.88 for Essential and $167.88 for Premium. The respective annual prices are $89.99 and $139.99—$17.89 less for Essential and $27.89 less for Premium than twelve monthly payments. These savings are calculated from the listed prices; Paramount+ describes annual billing in relation to twelve months at the regular monthly price on its plan selection page.
What changed most?
Both monthly prices rose by the same dollar amount: $1. The annual plans rose by different amounts: Essential increased by $30, from $59.99 to $89.99, while Premium increased by $20, from $119.99 to $139.99. That makes the Essential annual increase larger in both dollars and percentage terms than its monthly increase.

- Check your viewing habits. Essential is ad-supported; Premium provides an ad-free on-demand experience and adds the Showtime library, downloads, and a local live CBS feed.
- Compare the billing cadence. Use the annual-versus-monthly arithmetic above only if you expect to keep the subscription for the year and the listed rates match your account.
- Review what matters in a replacement. Compare the shows and documentaries you watch, ad load, live sports or local-channel access, download rules, and any promotional or bundle terms. Catalogs and plan rules vary, so another service is not automatically a like-for-like substitute.
