What changed in the Paramount+ price hike?
Paramount Global said in its Q3 2025 investor-call transcript that it planned U.S. price increases early in the first quarter of 2026. Tom’s Guide reported that the increase took effect January 15, 2026, adding $1 per month to each tier. Paramount+’s current U.S. signup page lists the prices below. Which Paramount+ plan is the better value?
Choose Essential if ads are acceptable
Essential costs $5 less per month than Premium at the listed monthly prices. If you mainly watch on-demand shows and films and do not need Premium’s downloads, select enhanced video formats, CBS live, or SHOWTIME content, the lower tier is the straightforward way to reduce the bill.

Pay for Premium only for features you will use
Premium’s extra cost may make sense if its included content or features matter to your household. “No ads” does not apply to live TV, and 4K UHD/HDR is available only for select viewing; check whether the programs and devices you use support the features before upgrading.
Would annual billing save you money?
Paramount+ promotes annual billing as a discount against twelve regular monthly payments. Current reporting lists annual totals of $89.99 for Essential and $139.99 for Premium. Compared with twelve months at the listed monthly prices, those totals are $17.89 less for Essential and $28.89 less for Premium, before taxes or other offer effects. The exact annual prices were not visible in the extracted text from the official signup page, so verify the checkout total and renewal terms before paying.

Annual billing requires paying upfront for a year. It may cost more overall than monthly billing if you expect to cancel before the year is up, so weigh the discount against how long you actually plan to subscribe. The annual figures and savings calculation are based on the listed reported totals and current monthly prices; they are not a guarantee of the amount offered to every account.
Can Walmart+ include Paramount+?
An active Walmart+ member can select Paramount+ Essential with ads at no additional charge within the membership, instead of Peacock Premium with ads. Members can switch their streaming selection every 90 days. Walmart lists Paramount+ Premium as a paid upgrade for $5 per month or $50 per year, plus tax. This is a benefit attached to Walmart+, not standalone free Paramount+. Compare the membership fee with the cost you would otherwise pay for Essential and the value of Walmart+’s other benefits. If you already pay Paramount+ directly, the existing subscription must expire before you activate the Walmart+ streaming benefit.
Check promotions, renewal terms, and billing provider
Paramount promotions can be limited to eligible customers, may not combine with trials or other offers, and can renew automatically at the then-current regular price after the discounted period. No universal current promo code is established here. Read the offer’s duration, eligibility, renewal amount, and cancellation deadline before signing up. Paramount’s U.S. Terms of Use also state that new-customer promotions may be used only once and restrict repeated registrations to obtain offers.

Subscriptions generally auto-renew at the then-current price unless canceled or changed before renewal. Paramount says it provides notice of applicable price changes and that a change takes effect on renewal, not in the middle of the current billing period. If you subscribe through a third party, that provider’s account tools and terms may govern your plan change or cancellation.

- Check your billing account for the plan, renewal date, and next charge. If a third party bills you, use that provider’s account rather than assuming Paramount+ can change the subscription.
- Compare the renewal amount with the features you use. For direct Paramount+ subscriptions, a downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing period; an upgrade may begin immediately and be prorated.
- Cancel or change the plan before renewal if the new price is not worth it. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are generally not refunded, subject to the terms or applicable law.
