This guide explains how to activate Paramount+, what the Walmart+ benefit does—and does not—include, how existing Paramount+ subscribers should avoid duplicate billing, and when the paid Premium upgrade may make sense.
What Paramount+ plan comes with Walmart+?
The included service is Paramount+ Essential. It is the ad-supported Paramount+ tier, not Paramount+ Premium.
Paramount+ Essential generally provides access to a substantial selection of Paramount+ movies and series, streaming on up to three devices at once, NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions League coverage, UFC live events, and selected SHOWTIME programming. However, the precise catalog, sports availability, local CBS access, advertising, and live-event rights can vary by plan, location, event, and current licensing arrangements. Walmart+ should not be treated as a guarantee that every Paramount+ title or live broadcast will be available.

The benefit is not automatically applied to an existing Paramount+ account. You must select Paramount+ in Walmart’s account area and complete an account-linking process.
What Walmart+ costs
Walmart currently lists Walmart+ at $12.95 per month or $98 per year, plus applicable tax. The membership is intended to provide more than streaming, with benefits such as delivery, shipping, and other Walmart services varying by the current membership terms.
Walmart’s membership page also advertises a 30-day trial for $1 at the time of the researched offer. Trial pricing and terms can change. Qualifying college students and some government-assistance recipients may be eligible for a discounted Walmart+ price. Walmart+ availability is generally limited to customers with a U.S. billing address and is subject to Walmart’s territorial rules, including limitations that may apply in Alaska and Hawaii.
The Paramount+ benefit is available to Walmart+ trial members according to Walmart’s streaming-benefit instructions. The paid Premium upgrade is different: only paid Walmart+ members can purchase it.

- Sign in to the Walmart account associated with your Walmart+ membership.
- Open Account, then select Walmart+.
- Open the Walmart+ Benefits Hub or the Video Streaming Choice tile.
- Select Paramount+ Essential and choose Get Paramount+.
- Sign in to an existing Paramount+ account or create a new Paramount+ account.
- Complete the on-screen linking process, then create or select a Paramount+ profile.
Walmart may change the exact labels or layout, but the important steps are selecting Paramount+ as your streaming choice and linking a Paramount+ account through Walmart. If you do not complete the linking flow, having an active Walmart+ membership alone may not give you access in the Paramount+ app.
Already paying for Paramount+? Do this before activating
Do not assume that an active, directly billed Paramount+ subscription can simply be stacked with the Walmart+ benefit. Walmart’s instructions say that an existing paid Paramount+ subscription must first be canceled directly through Paramount+ and allowed to reach its expiration date.

The safest sequence is:
- Check your Paramount+ account to identify who bills you and the date your current paid period ends.
- Cancel the direct Paramount+ subscription through Paramount, if appropriate.
- Continue using the paid subscription until the final paid period expires.
- After expiration, return to the Walmart+ Benefits Hub and select Paramount+ Essential.
- Link the Paramount+ account when Walmart prompts you.
Do not cancel and expect the Walmart benefit to begin immediately. The existing subscription generally has to expire first. Free promotional subscriptions can have separate conditions, so check the expiration date and billing source in your Paramount+ account before making changes.
Can you upgrade to Paramount+ Premium?
Yes, but the upgrade costs extra. After selecting Paramount+ Essential, eligible paid Walmart+ members can upgrade through the Walmart account hub to Paramount+ Premium for the currently listed price of $5 per month plus tax or $50 per year plus tax. The upgrade is billed by Walmart rather than directly by Paramount+.

- Fewer advertisements during on-demand viewing;
- Offline downloads;
- 4K and HDR playback on eligible titles and compatible devices;
- Live CBS access where available; or
- The complete SHOWTIME offering rather than the selected SHOWTIME programming available on Essential.
Premium is not necessarily completely free of advertising in every situation. Paramount notes that live television and live programming may still include advertising or sponsorship. Downloads, resolution, and HDR also depend on the title, device, account, and technical requirements.
The Premium upgrade may be offered as a monthly or annual charge and automatically renews unless canceled before the applicable renewal. Confirm the price and renewal terms shown in your Walmart account before completing the purchase, since benefits and fees can change.
Paramount+ or Peacock: Walmart+ lets you choose only one
Walmart+’s Video Streaming Choice benefit allows you to select either Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium. You cannot keep both included services active through the same benefit.
Walmart generally allows a member to switch the selected service once every 90 days. The change is made from the Video Streaming Choice tile in the Walmart account or Benefits Hub. If you stay with your current service after the 90-day period, no action is required.

Be especially careful if you paid for Paramount+ Premium through Walmart. Switching away can end access to both the upgraded and included tiers of the former service immediately. Walmart says a prorated refund for the canceled portion of the upgrade may apply where appropriate, but you should review the displayed terms before switching.
A practical rule: choose Paramount+ if its catalog and sports offerings are your priority; choose Peacock if that is the service you are more likely to watch over the next 90 days. Do not switch casually just to test the other service if you are in the middle of a Premium billing term.
How billing and cancellation work
The included Paramount+ Essential access has no separate streaming charge while the Walmart+ membership remains active. It is a membership benefit, not a standalone Paramount+ subscription that continues forever if Walmart+ ends.
Canceling Walmart+ generally prevents the next renewal while allowing access through the end of the applicable paid term. Pausing Walmart+ suspends access to Walmart+ benefits during the pause.

Paramount+ Premium purchased through Walmart is a separate charge from the base Walmart+ membership. Walmart says the Premium charge may appear separately on a bank statement, with descriptions such as “W+Paramount+Prem” or a prorated variation.
You can generally cancel Walmart+, a Plus Up benefit, or Paramount+ Premium through your Walmart account or by contacting Walmart customer care. Check the account’s displayed end date after canceling so you know whether access ends immediately or continues through the current paid term.

Where can you watch it?
Paramount+ supports common streaming platforms and devices, including Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, LG and Samsung smart TVs, Vizio TVs, PlayStation, Xbox, Xfinity, Xumo, Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad. Paramount lists streaming on up to three devices simultaneously for the Essential plan.
The Walmart+ benefit does not include a television, streaming player, internet service, or other hardware. If your television does not offer the Paramount+ app, a current Fire TV Stick 4K is one optional way to add a supported Fire TV platform. It is not required for Walmart+ or included with the membership.

Do not assume that every older smart TV or discontinued Fire TV model will remain compatible indefinitely. App availability depends on the exact device, operating-system support, internet connection, and Paramount’s current technical requirements. A newer compatible streaming player may be more practical than replacing an otherwise usable television.

For documentary viewers, the central question is not simply whether Paramount+ is “free.” It is whether you would use Walmart+ independently and whether the ad-supported Paramount+ catalog contains the films, series, or related programming you actually want. Catalogs and rights change, so check the current Paramount+ offering before joining solely for a particular title.

The Paramount+ tile is missing
Confirm that you are signed in to the Walmart account that holds the Walmart+ membership. Check the Walmart+ area and Benefits Hub rather than starting from a separate Paramount+ signup page. If you are in a trial, confirm that the trial is active and that the offer is available to your account.
Paramount+ asks me to pay
You may be using the wrong signup path, or an existing Paramount+ subscription may still be active. Return to Walmart’s Video Streaming Choice tile and begin the linking flow there. If you previously paid Paramount directly, wait until that subscription has fully expired before trying again.
I activated it, but the Paramount+ app does not recognize my access
Sign out of the Paramount+ app, restart it, and sign back in with the Paramount+ account used during Walmart’s linking process. Avoid creating a second Paramount+ account unless the Walmart flow specifically asks you to do so. Also verify that the Walmart+ membership has not been canceled or paused.

I was charged for Paramount+ Premium
Essential has no separate streaming charge, but Premium is an optional paid upgrade. Review Walmart’s billing history and your bank statement. A separate description such as “W+Paramount+Prem” can indicate the Walmart-billed upgrade.
My TV cannot install Paramount+
Check whether the television model still supports the Paramount+ app. If it does not, use a supported game console, mobile device, casting setup, or external streaming player. Hardware is an additional purchase and is not part of Walmart+.
